Capoeira: Step Afrika! Edition 😎

Last week, had the pleasure of welcoming some of the @stepafrika family to my Capoeira class at the University of Delaware while they were in town for arts education and youth performances.

Having artists/friends from an organization that has played a meaningful role in my own journey connect with my students was special in itself. Thank you for bringing your energy, sharing your experiences, and offer real-world insight and industry advice.

Creating spaces where culture, movement, mentorship, and community come together 🙏🏽.

Step Afrika! is at Arena Stage in DC again, and this time using step and body percussion, their voices, insanely good visuals, and other things to tell the story of what it’s like living in this country as a person of color as it is and a hope for what could be. As it is America’s 250th Anniversary, this work is so timely! Get to Arena Stage and see this amazing work of art before it closes on November 1st!! 🎭💃
