Hats, furniture, homeware and outdoor furniture, all made right here in Cape Town. On Thursday our first Design Week safari went behind the scenes with three makers, each with its own way of making. At @therealcrystalbirch, heritage sewing skills still shape every hat. At @pedersenlennar, furniture is designed and built under one roof. And at @haldanemartin, Haldane Martin’s outdoor pieces are made to order in the Western Cape. Thank you to every maker who opened the doors, and to everyone who came along. Missed it? We run private Design Safaris all year, built around what you want to see. DM us to plan yours. An unbelievably inspiring morning with @designsafaris for @designweeksouthafrica - joined by @nien.zzz and @tina_terrific we explored 3 incredible makers - @therealcrystalbirch for her insane millinery, @pedersenlennard for the furniture and homeware we all adore and then @haldanemartin for insane world class outdoor furniture. It was a true treat to experience. Def recommend if you are visiting Cape Town or if you just want a broader design experience to book with Tom of @designsafaris - great way to experience our city. Driving around the city in their cool safari car being invited into the spaces by the makers themselves.
