Remembering Shawna Trpcic, a remarkable costume designer whose work helped bring some of the most beloved Star Wars characters to life.

From The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett to Ahsoka, Shawna approached Star Wars with an incredible combination of creativity, precision, research, and genuine love for the galaxy far, far away. She was known by her peers as something of a Star Wars historian, studying the making of the films, the work of the original designers, and the creative conversations that shaped the costumes we have loved for generations.

Her work wasn’t simply about making a character look right. It was about making them feel like they had lived a life before we ever met them. Dave Filoni described her costumes as telling a story through the suggestion of experiences that happened before the cameras rolled.

She helped translate characters like Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan Kryze from animation into live action, created the distinctive looks of characters like Boba Fett and Din Djarin, and led the costume work that helped make Ahsoka feel like a continuation of the world so many of us grew up with.

But perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of Shawna’s legacy is the people she inspired. Her Ahsoka team has spoken about her generosity, her willingness to nurture new talent, and the way she cared for the people around her. Her assistant costume designer @27crossroads recalled that the team called Shawna “mom” because of how deeply she cared for them and advocated for them.

Shawna passed away October 4, 2023, but her work continues to live on every time these characters step onto the screen.

These are just a few of the costumes she helped bring to life 🩵

Thank you, Shawna, for helping make the galaxy feel a little more real. Your artistry, passion, and legacy will continue to be felt throughout Star Wars for generations to come. ❤️

We’re proud to celebrate Jeryl Prescott, one of the brilliant actors featured in Striking Threads: The Atlanta Washing Society. 🎞️
Star Wars fans may recognize Jeryl as Aktropaw, a Dathomirian Nightsister and one of the three mystical Great Mothers allied with Grand Admiral Thrawn on the distant world of Peridea in Ahsoka. Aktropaw, along with fellow Great Mothers Klothow and Lakesis, draws inspiration from the three Fates of Greek mythology.
In Striking Threads, Jeryl brings that same extraordinary presence, depth, and power to the role of Esther. We are honored to have her as part of our cast and the Striking Threads family! 🎥❤️

As long as Thrawn, Skoll, Hati, Pellaeon, Enoch, and the Great Mothers live, the war between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire is not over. You have to make a stand, Ahsoka. Are you a Jedi…or not? 💙❤️💚💜🖤💛🤍🧡🩶

Nothing’s been the same since *this* weekend-

back in July 2025, I was lucky enough to interview @therealbrendanwayne @lateefcrowderdossantos @therealjeryl and @roberttimothysmithofficial

this was my first experience doing video interviews and my first weekend talking to talent - every one of these actors was so generous with their time and answers, it was an absolute joy to speak to them all and it felt like an honour and the ultimate seal of approval when all four collaborated directly on Instagram!

Off the back of this weekend I was lucky enough to set up more video interviews that were collaborated with actors I admire and ultimately, land a stage role with MCM comic con.

If you’d told me this time last year that I’d be working with the UK’s biggest comic con and writing, recording and creating full time about the tv, film, books and games that mean something to me, I wouldn’t have believed you.

I’m hopeful with the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu imminent, that I’ll get to catch up with Brendan and Lateef in the not too distant future so I can share my gratitude in person! 🤞🏻
But there isn’t a week that goes by where I don’t feel thankful for the kindness shown by these actors and their representatives and think about how unbeknownst to them, it’s sent my life down a totally different path.
