Give thanks for the life, the music, and the eternal legacy of the Godfather of Reggae, Joe Higgs. 🙏🏾✨
On Wednesday, June 3, 2026, the monthly Groundation at Inna De Yard (6 St. Andrew Park, Kingston) became a sacred space of remembrance. Hosted by Earl “Chinna” Smith (Melchizedek High Priest) and streamed live on Kool FM with Dionne, the night brought together a living orchestra of Jamaica’s finest cultural practitioners.
From the grounding opening prayers by Orthodox priest Ibby Lion to the powerful, sprawling sounds of the Binghistra Movement, the yard resonated with pure consciousness.
Legends like Dean Fraser, Fred Locks, Sangie Davis, and Wrong Move joined forces with Joe Higgs’ international touring partner Annie on the Hobo, and Higgs’ own granddaughter, ensuring his musical lineage and teachings continue to vibrate through the generations.
Joe Higgs didn’t just sing anthems like There’s a Reward—he nurtured the very foundation of Reggae music, sharing his knowledge freely to uplift the collective.
Big up @veggiemealsonwheel for providing the wholesome nourishment for the evening. 🍲🌱
At WatchRasta, we believe in documenting more than just a performance—we preserve the living, breathing traditions of our culture.
