Deborah Sampson, the real life Mulan! 💪

From start to finish, it was amazing to collaborate and work with @janineturner, along with the whole cast and production team! A dream come true!

A lot of time and passion went into this project, and I’m so so so thankful to have been trusted with Deborah Sampson’s role. And I can only hope to have done her some justice.

My heart is broken for the people of Los Angeles. It’s been extremely difficult to focus on anything else. I’ve only had the chance to visit once a couple of years ago in 2022 for my birthday. Needless to say, what a magical experience it truly was. I wanted share a few memories and links in my bio for a list of GoFundMe campaigns supporting displaced Black and Latinx families. ❤️

During my trip, we stayed in Marina Del Rey, walked to Venice Beach, dipped our toes in the water, and experienced the vibrant Venice Boardwalk. Then we explored the Hollywood Walk of Fame, checked out the stars, and even attempted to hike to the Hollywood sign, which was an epic fail, but still an adventure. Witnessing the iconic Ferris Wheel on Santa Monica Pier and the LACMA Urban Lights is a core memory, before driving out to Malibu. Can’t forget falling in love with Dirty Chai Lattes, devouring a grilled cheese off the Not So Secret Menu at In-N-Out Burger, and a plant-based Mr. Frowny Meal at the famous Mr. Charlie’s. The temperature was perfect, the sunsets were breathtaking, and the energy of the city was unforgettable. 🌴

I’ve always hoped to return and explore more, but that feels so trivial in the midst of the immense grief and pain the city is experiencing. My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Los Angeles. Sending love, strength, and solidarity during this difficult time. 😔
