In this episode of Lucky Kiwi Podcast, we’re joined by someone who has been part Jed’s life for more than 35 years. Mark Hadlow isn’t just a dear friend to us. He’s family.

One of New Zealand’s best-known actors, Mark has performed in countless theatre shows, dozens of film appearances, television series, commercials and radio voice-overs in the thousands. He has directed theatre, opera, and film throughout New Zealand.

International audiences will know Mark through his long-standing creative relationship with fellow Kiwi filmmaker Sir Peter Jackson, beginning with the cult classic Meet the Feebles, followed by King Kong, The Hobbit trilogy, (where he played the beloved dwarf Dori) and Mortal Engines.

But for us, Mark is so much more than an
extraordinary actor.
This conversation celebrates a friendship that has lasted through decades of life, work, laughter and everything in between.

Those of us who know
Mark know there is something particularly special about him. He wears his heart on his sleeve, with an almost childlike openness that is both disarming and wonderfully genuine.

This is Mark Hadlow as we know and love him: warm, funny, honest, mischievous and completely himself.
We hope you enjoy getting to know him.

I watched the film "Deep Water" last night. I really liked it! Deep Water is a insane, fun, and bloody disaster film with non-stop thrills, loads of suspense, likable characters, and a bit of wit and heart.

The awesome script by Pete Bridges, Shayne Armstrong, S.P. Krause, Damien Power, John Kim, Dan Luo, and Jianye Sun tells a crazy story of survival, camaraderie, and morality that moves at a brisk pace.

Aaron Eckhart leads a great ensemble cast that includes Ben Kingsley, Angus Sampson, Lucy Barrett, Richard Crouchley, Molly Belle Wright, Li Wenhan, Zhao Simei, Nashi, Lakota Johnson, Mark Hadlow, Rarmian Newton, Madeleine West, Rob Kipa-Williams, Kelly Gale, Ryan Bown, Kate Fitzpatrick, Elijah Tamati, and Chrissy Jin.

The cinematography is impressive by D.J. Stipsen and it is accompanied by a lovely score by Fernando Velázquez. It's well-edited by Geoff Lamb and it has some really good effects, costume design(Jaindra Watson), set decoration(Penny Kerr), art direction(Laia Colet, Mark C. Stephen, and Helen Strevens), and production design(Helen Strevens). Renny Harlin did a fantastic job directing this tense, exciting, and entertaining thriller that I would recommend.

Martin always has a kind word to say to everyone. Here, he’s telling me, “Don’t worry, we will find the rest of your clothes.”

The final scene we had at Erebor, where we said farewell to Bilbo, was not hard to engender the right emotion. We had all grown to love Martin and, therefore, Bilbo. The moment was real and sad. We were coming to the end of our incredible journey together.
