Sasha is a Ukrainian born ceramic artist whose current body of work revolves heavily around the war in Ukraine and the full scale invasion by its northern neighbor. Primarily working with clay Sasha’s artistic practice spans documentary filmmaking, metal sculpture and found object. While focusing on large scale clay paintings Sasha doesn’t stray too far away from the wheel and pottery. Come take a class in the ceramics studio with our awesome team here at Boise State University.

last month i visited @watershedceramics as an artist in residence in the first session of the season Drawing It Out. in two weeks i made fifty cups, four plates, and twenty five little dishes. thank you to @cel.fel and @gracetessein for proposing this theme! and big thank u to all the other artists for sharing your time, work, and techniques ♥️💘 i barely took any photos while there but have so many ideas brewing from this residency, it’s nice to remember that even when im in free fall the studio is there to catch me 🫂

In June I had the pleasure and honor of attending @watershedceramics as a resident artist. This experience was energizing, inspiring, and eye-opening.

I am so grateful to my fellow residents, watershed staff, and residency organizers for making this experience so magical. Thank you all for your generosity and inspiration!

I spent the first two weeks of June @watershedceramics for a residency.
I made pots. I made beautiful things. I made freaky things. I made friends.
Thank you SO much to @cel.fel and @gracetessein for organizing a residency dedicated to us illustrators who are also obsessed with clay. My time was so special and I’m so grateful for everyone I spent that time with.
Cheers to oysters and jumping off bridges, cheers to sweet treats, new friends and rat kings

Perfect days @watershedceramics 🍀 @gracetessein and I co-organized a summer residency centered around drawing on clay and we couldn’t have asked for a better crew! So good to hang with everyone in the studio and go on sweet Maine summer excursions (🦞🍦🌊🐄) One of my favorite parts was getting to see and hear about everyone’s processes, from @impetrie slip transfer to @jessicabrandl bas-relief to @studioemilybyang block printing to name a few!
Will remember it in the moon risings over the trees, walks back to cabins in pitch black, endless lupines, so many 4 clovers, cold swims, june bugs, and new friends 🍀
