David,
12 years ago, I woke up and received a call telling me you passed. I froze. I didn’t know how to react. Did I just get news that my best friend, my soul tie brother, the only person who truly SAW me, just died?
That… that’s not possible… but the heart surgery was successful? We were too young. Oh God please let this be a joke? This can’t be real. His heart is fine now…. Right???
I’m pretty sure I dissociated and blacked out that morning because I literally do not remember anything until I got into my car.
When I got into my car that morning, the first song that came on the radio was Touch The Sky (yeah yeah, I know, problematic Kanye…) but then the next song immediately after that was Good Morning (yeah, I know, we really liked Kanye back then okay?)
12 years later and I can’t help but think back now and realize something…
David, that was YOU talking to me through music wasn’t it? You always spoke to me through music with your raps and freestyles and your random playlists. The day you died, you came to me through song to tell me that it’s okay. That you’re okay. That I will be okay. That you’re still here, with me. (‘Come up to the spot looking extra fly’ is exactly you).
Anyway, I couldn’t help but reflect back to June 10, 2013 this morning. I can’t believe it took 12 years for it to click in my brain… but that was all YOU.

12 years is a long time without you, David.
But you’re not really gone are you?
My guardian angel, I see you clocking me and checking me when I’m having a moment and my Spotify will randomly play Hustlin’ by Rick Ross... especially when I’m strictly listening to Taylor Swift 😑🤣

Signs and syncs are everywhere and I’m sorry it took me 12 years to receive your message dude 😅🎶

On June 17, 150 people joined my family and I to celebrate the life of my late twin brother, David. He's been gone for ten years and, despite the waves of emotion that still take over, I'm so proud of the amazing legacy he left.
Part of his legacy, is the David Adomako-Ansah Leadership Scholarship. Our family values education and the importance of learning and, although his learning was choppy, he was my greatest teacher.
My goal is to keep his name alive in as many people's hearts as I can. It's the most important thing to me and something I'm so proud of.
Thank you so much for coming to raise money and celebrate him with us. The grand total (ticket sales, silent auction items, t-shirt sales, and general kindness) is...$6,316!
I'm so grateful for the amazing people in my life who make my dreams a reality.
There were so many local vendors that donated items and time that you should support.
A special thank you to @fo_photography for the photography, @creativehiveyeg for the amazing venue and @star.light.eventsyeg for bringing my idea to life!

This has been such a journey. These four individuals, plus Dan, have kept me afloat and sane over the past ten months, but especially over the last 60 days.

From interviews, to podcasts, to articles, to horrible internet connections (I'm still cringing), to nasty online comments, we've navigated through a lot together.

One of the professional goals I had for myself was to come out of my comfort zone and present at GETCA. My twin was the guy who loved to be on camera, an advocate, a speaker. He was so passionate and I believe that he is truly guiding us to do this work. I'm so thankful for him, but also to the crew. I love you guys!
