Some people coach the game. Coach Chris shows up for the people.

As the co-founder of RISE, Coach Chris built this program on one belief: the ball was never the point; the person holding it is. And this WNBA season, he lived that out everywhere the community needed him. On the court at Crypto.com Arena, in local gyms, at clinics and community events, pouring into every kid who walked through the door.

That’s what RISE is built on. Not just developing better players, but building people who believe in themselves and know someone is in their corner.

Thank you, Coach Chris, for showing up every time, for every kid, with your whole heart.

This love has been some real shit. 😂❤️ And I mean that in the best way.

We have loved each other, worked through shit, laughed until we cried, gotten on each other’s nerves, grown together and still wake up every day choosing to do this life together.

That’s probably my favorite thing about us. We don’t need a Sunday kind of love because every day is our kind of love. Sunday, Monday, holiday, random ass Tuesday… it doesn’t matter. We’ll make a date night out of any night and find a reason to laugh through almost anything.

I’ll never forget this love or take for granted that I get to experience it.

Good, bad, different, easy or hard… I choose to love this man every single day.

And I’m so damn grateful that I get to. ❤️

At GirlDads Care, our mission has always been simple: create real bonding opportunities between fathers and daughters, one relationship at a time. What started as a commitment to intentional fatherhood has grown into a movement spanning cities across the U.S. and reaching families around the globe. Through innovative, interactive community programming, and partnerships built on the belief that showing up for your daughter changes everything, we’ve watched dads and daughters build memories that last a lifetime.

It’s not just about the game — it’s about the car ride there, the high-fives after she scores a basket, the pride in a dad’s eyes watching his daughter compete. These moments are the whole point. We were honored to bring our GirlDads Care LA community together this summer in collaboration with the @la_sparks hosting families for an experience rooted in everything Kobe stood for, showing up fully for his daughters and telling the world without hesitation that being a girl dad was one of his proudest titles.

Kobe didn’t just support his daughters from the sidelines. He became one of the most visible, vocal advocates for women’s basketball the sport has ever seen — courtside at WNBA games, coaching Gigi’s team, pushing for greater investment in girls’ athletics. He showed a generation of fathers that intensity and tenderness aren’t opposites, that you can be a fierce competitor and still be the softest, most present dad in the room. That example is exactly what GirlDads Care was built to carry forward.

Today, on his birthday, we pause to celebrate his life and everything he gave to all of us. Kobe’s legacy isn’t confined to championships or highlight reels — it lives in every father who spends quality time with his daughter throughout the year, who makes sure she knows her dreams are worth chasing. It lives in the girl dads who found their own identity reflected in his, and in the daughters who watched him and saw what it looks like to be truly seen by your father.
