Seeking medals and meaningful moments, Brook and Maurice put in the work everyday on the water and off, making room for the next generation of rowers. As a @unityboatclub co-founder/President/Head Coach, Brook is driven by a passion for rowing and a commitment to providing diverse communities with opportunities for excellence in the sport. And as the founder of @rowfluencers, Maurice is on a mission to amplify individual rowing athletes, turn personal stories into brand partnerships, and bring rowing into mainstream sports media. We've been luck enough to sit down with both Brook and Maurice for episodes of Steady State podcast, and bump into them at Head Of The Charles between events. #rowing #rowingcommunity

❤️ WHERE IT ALL BEGAN — 2019! ❤️ WeCare2SeeUSmile Inc. was founded in 2019 by Executive Director Derrell Davis, inspired by All4OnePhilly, a community car team built on family, unity, and a passion for giving back. With the support of Philadelphia Police 5th District Community Relations Officer Maurice Scott, local car clubs, and community businesses, we brought our vision to life through a Red Carpet Presidential-Style Community Thanksgiving Celebration! 🦃❤️ Our goal was simple: To give struggling families more than just a Thanksgiving meal — to give them hope, dignity, love, and a reason to SMILE! 🙏🏽 What started with a love for cars became a movement of compassion and community service. “Healing Broken Communities One Neighborhood at a Time.” ❤️ #WeCare2SeeUSmile #Since2019 #CommunityFirst #Philadelphia #GivingBack ThanksgivingWithLove OneNeighborhoodAtATime

Bronze at the first beach sprint Nationals! They ran nationals, trials, and a speed order all in the same weekend. I got to cox a quad for trials and race a single in the nationals event. For it only being my second regatta on the senior team I am very happy with the results 😄 Swipe to the end for a surprise… I had to make sure to get in the usual flip out of the boat 😭 C Open Women’s 1x - 4th in Time Trials, 1st in B final

Beach sprint national championships! After a week of training camp, last weekend was the beach sprint national championships, speed order, and national team trials. While I only competed in the national championships, I saw some great racing and had a great time with my teammates at @nextlevelrowing! I competed in the Men’s open Single and mixed double with the amazing @tashmae__ . The result after five back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back races were two bronze medals! Every race is an experience and I am grateful to have gotten this chance to train and race with, and against, some of the best rowers in the country. Thank you to @nextlevelrowing , @markusoria, @carastawicki , and @alycehoney for organizing, coaching, and boat handling the whole week and weekend, to the next level super team for a great training week, and to my partner @tashmae__ for getting in the mixed double with me and racing hard! #nationalbeachsprintchampionships #beachsprints #superteam #rowingislife

Two years after a Learn to Row program at Boathouse Row, Maurice Scott (@thereeselife) was reintroduced to the sport when his father took him to his first race. As a spectator, Scott carefully observed each competitor as they walked toward the water. And as they competed, it wasn’t the technique or the speed of the athletes that stood out to him most. Instead, Scott, who was 14 at the time, was focused on the fact that nobody looked like him and nobody shared his background as a Black kid from Northwest Philadelphia. When he voiced his concerns to his father, Maurice Scott Sr., he responded, “You know, that doesn’t mean that you can’t do it.” Those words have lived with the younger Scott for the past 18 years. Now Scott, 32, is making a push to compete in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. And as he embarks on his journey to chase his Olympic dream, he’s inspiring other inner-city kids who have a desire to compete in a sport lacking representation. “Representation is so important,” Scott said. “So, I’m hoping they see this and are like, ‘Hey, it doesn’t have to be wrong. But this challenges me to really find what I like to do and not care about what other people think about because I’m going to do this and be a trailblazer for it and bring in others with me to allow them to not only just live, but thrive within whatever space that may be.’” Read more about Scott’s journey at the link in @phillyinqsports’ bio. 📝 by @arrriielll / Staff 📸 Courtesy of Maurice Scott
