One of our local pubs @theregent has done a little revamp of the menu, so of course we had to go and have a try!

The Regent in Islington isn’t trying to be fancy, it’s just good, proper pub food, decent portions and really reasonable prices.

The star of the show is the garlic bread with mozzarella - it’s the dish you’ll keep going back for more of and the perfect snack with drinks. Hot tip: order the hot honey side - the perfect accompaniment to the garlic bread. The pizzas were also delicious and huge - and the chicken parma was great too. Don’t skip the Nutella pizza with a scoop of @judesicecream - absolutely delicious and the perfect end to the meal.

A local favourite, and for good reason!!

This week on the podcast, I’m joined by @dremerjoyce, Consultant Cardiologist at the Mater Hospital in Dublin. ❤️

We talk about the startling stats on women’s heart health, the devastating loss of her brother Ray, and how she likes to spend her Saturdays. 🫶🏻

Emer happened to be in London last week and suggested we head to a Glen Hansard tribute night in Islington 💚

Listen wherever you get your podcasts 🎧

The tunes @theregent were immense and the stories superb, like this one about Glen and his Oscar ✨

I felt really emotional being in a pub full of Irish people again, (must rectify) and though the grief was palpable, the frequency was forever love ☘️

We spoke about our pets on this week’s episode and how contrary they (we) are 👀

Does your cat like to be walked?
Vivienne does… 🙃

Producer Caz and her ride or die. 🤗

Does your dog enjoy 🧀 on their breakfast?
Rosebud does…

Who remembers the milk tray man?!

It’s a THING.
Spider the cat and Ziggy the dog go walkies

Thanks @sineadannmckee

We’re deep breathers now… thanks to this gang. Caroline had her sesh last week 😮‍💨 Aaaand I promptly booked mine for the end of the month.

🍽️ THE REGENT – ISLINGTON 🍻🇮🇹

Just off the hustle and bustle of Upper Street sits The Regent, a proper North London local serving up cold pints, live sport and a cracking modern Italian menu.

I popped in with the legendary @eatingforthe_sukh_of_it for a catch-up over some food and a few drinks, and we weren't disappointed. The menu strikes that perfect balance between classic pub comfort and modern Italian flavours, with plenty of small plates, pizzas and hearty mains to get stuck into.

For me, the star of the show was the porchetta. Crispy, juicy and packed with flavour – exactly what you want from this Italian classic. 👌

Whether you're after a pre-match pint, somewhere to watch the game, a casual date night or just a proper pub meal with friends, The Regent has all the boxes ticked.

And as a North London lad, I'm always happy to discover another great local spot.
