Stop ignoring the last 15 degrees of knee extensions. ❌🦵

Let’s be honest as Physios:
The End-range completion is often the most neglected phase in knee rehabilitation. We load squats, leg presses, and mid-range quads, yet frequently settle for "close enough" on extension.

In sports medicine, these final 15° are called Terminal Knee Extension (TKE). When a patient can’t actively reach full lockout on their own, it’s an Extension Lag—and leaving it unaddressed compromises the entire rehab cycle.

Why physios must stop skipping the end range:
⚙️ The Screw-Home Mechanism: In the final 10–15°, the tibia naturally rotates on the femur to lock the joint into place. Without it, the knee never reaches true structural passive stability.

💥 Peak VMO Recruitment: Electromyography (EMG) shows that the Vastus Medialis Oblique (VMO) reaches peak activation right at full extension. Settle for 90% extension, and you leave key VMO development behind.

📊 What the Research Shows:
• 20% to 30% of post-ACL reconstruction patients suffer from a persistent extension lag because active end-range work was stopped too early.
• Losing just 3° to 5° of terminal extension alters gait kinematics, forces the quads to overwork during basic walking, and dramatically increases long-term patellofemoral stress.

In the video: Prone terminal knee extensions over a Swiss ball force active end-range lockout against dynamic resistance, helping bridge the gap between passive range and active control!

Cardio or strength? Why choose.
One movement. Full body. Zero wasted time.
Loaded, low-impact, and built for capacity — not just calories. The handles work your arms, chest, and shoulders while the stride works your glutes, hamstrings, and quads — all in the same rep. Add resistance, and you're training two systems at once instead of picking one and hoping the other keeps up.
This is the difference between working out and training with intent.
Decode. Discover. Dominate.
