What’s someplace in your city that you’ve been meaning to check out but haven’t yet?

For me, it was attending a Braves game.

Now, I’ve been to The Battery at least 3 times, which is the space outside of Truist Park, and it is indeed a good time. Yet, after 11 years living here, I HAD to finally go to a game - and it’s the kind of break that I absolutely needed⚾️

Break from what, you may ask? Well, I’ve been in prep mode for back-to-school author activities since late May and I have earned every right to take a break🥂

First of all, Summer is going by way too quickly, but that only means you gotta make time to do what you enjoy while you’re on the path to release what’s to come.

What’s been taking half of my time and attention this season is writing a series of short stories about Little Mr. Fix It and the adventures he has with his family in their community. The other half has been focused on partnerships and events.

And it only seems right to me to include fun, screen-free learning resources and rewards to go along with it. So, needless to say, that’s plenty, but there’s also a whole system in place to pull in sponsors and business owners to help bring this thing to life.

So, yeah, this is what I’m brings me the Atlanta Braves game to watch them run the scoreboard to the tune of 15 to 1. I’ve been meaning to do this for too long that I couldn’t put it off another season.

Given a chance to take a break from what you’re working on, where are you taking it?

What did you enjoy most about this holiday season?

December 2024 owes me NOTHING, I tell you ♥️🎄🎁!

Every part of this season has been a celebration of family, friendship, faith in action, and I am full of gratitude for it all.✨

This is what life looks like when you elevate what matters so intentionally that there’s no lamentation for who or what may not be present or perfect. I learned this year to simply embrace what IS.💥

In the year to come, I am praying for boldness to allow my talents, purpose, and passions to collide on this path God’s carved out for me. I am ready for more of His best, and since it has already been promised, I am open to what’s to come.

Upward & Onward! 🥂

You still have to go out EVENTUALLY, so may as well make it sooner than later.

🩵Don’t put off the things that you should do now, simply because you do not feel like it.

“But I have more work to do.”

Go do the thing, work can wait. Besides, it’ll be there when you get back, so step out and get some fresh air.

And be grateful that you HAVE someone to go pick up, and have a vehicle that has fuel, is insured, paid for, has heat, and tires that function well.🩵

Don’t make excuses. Make it happen.

It’s Q3 2023. What should you be planning for RIGHT NOW, to make sure THIS season is one of fulfillment and satisfaction for you?

Last night, my cousin @thereziliantbuttafly and I talked on the phone for over an hour. We laughed, we traveled back in time to our early 20s. Post school daze after graduating from OSU…And she told me something that reminded me of the temporary nature of the tough seasons in life that we at times may face.

We learned from Clara Mae Benn, Granny as we all called her, how important it is to have a plan. She was the type to think 4 steps ahead and not sweat in the mess that she was in, but work through it and wait on God’s perfect time to prepare her for what’s next💖

This is so crucial, PARTICULARLY in times of uncertainty.

Nothing stays as it is forever, but without planning for change, there is no way to prepare for what’s ahead.

And if we put off planning, time has a sneaky way of passing you by.

Do not let the back half of this year fly by without doing what you know you should for yourself and do not be afraid to ask for someone to guide you through the uncertainty. I am grateful for you, Ki. Talk again, real soon ❤️🥰

Let me first say that shrinkage is REAL, this is my real hair nothing has been added, and though my blowout is long overdue, I’m glad I did this healthy hair length check 🙌🏾

Aside from that, I need to make more time to “go find pretty” more often and you probably do, too.

Do you know the multitude of attempts made to keep Black families apart?

They date back to the 1600s in this country, and persist even today.

Can you imagine being involuntarily separated from your child…for the sake of building an economy that doesn’t benefit you directly?

Only to work in an society that doesn’t respect you enough to compensate or educate you fairly even 400+ years later?

To have your bloodline dispersed across a land that you don’t know, and maybe reconnect with some of your loved ones in the future, maybe not?

I’m not waiting until February to talk about this. Black history is part of every day in my history, and it’s part of American history, too. Representation matters.

So, when you hear me express the importance of parents spending time together with your kids, whether reading or fixing things around the house, know that these commonalities are truly luxuries that Black people were not always afforded in this country.

Make the time. Your freedom is not free. Your family is worth it.

Happy New Year! 🎊

What is one thing you intend to do in 2022 that will push you toward reaching your goals?

Your achievements over the next 12 months depend on the intentions you set right now. Set your intentions this week and implement without hesitation.

For me, last year was about firming the foundation. This year, my focus is on growth. To do all that I’m planning to activate to help others succeed AND to succeed in my own author endeavors, I am going to need a bigger team.

Hustle culture is not my bag. I will continue to work smarter and not harder in all that I put my hands to so that I can enjoy the life I’m building. I’m not trying to be ‘booked and busy’, I’m going for ‘purposed and paid.’
