Bracketball 2026-27 Top 100 CBB Players

#56: Amare Bynum (Ohio State, F | So.)

Amare Bynum is one of our Sophomore breakout candidates. He had a really nice freshman year for a good Ohio State team that lost a really close game to TCU in the r64 — in which Bynum had 12 & 9 and the best GmSc (GameScore — a great srcbb metric) on the Buckeyes.

He was 1 of 7 high major freshmen 6’8 or taller to play at least 70% of their team’s minutes. Here’s the list:

AJ Dybantsa (#1 pick NBA Draft)
Cameron Boozer (#3 pick NBA Draft)
Hannes Steinbach (#14 pick NBA Draft)
David Mirkovic (One of the favorites to win the Wooden Award)
Massamba Diop (Gonzaga transfer, 5th best portal prospect)
AMARE BYNUM (Dawg)
Neoklis Avdalas (UNC transfer, 16th best portal prospect)

Not bad company to keep.

Expect another leap forward for Bynum and his offense to take the next step. The three point shot will improve and he will learn how to get to the line more, resulting in increased offensive production. The thought is he will land somewhere around 15 PPG on improved efficiency. If he’s able to, the Buckeyes should be a serious threat in the B1G and on the national stage.

On that note, I would be surprised if this is not one of the better Ohio State teams of the past decade-or-so. They may very well be a preseason t25 team, or close, and really have all the tools to make a run in March — they’re certainly due. This is a team that hasn’t made it past the r64 since 2022 and hasn’t made it past the first weekend since 2015!

Bynum’s projected line for 2026-27:

14.7 PPG
6.1 RPG
1.5 APG
