The Gala Prelude last Thursday was a night to remember.

Generously hosted by Ann and John McReynolds, the evening brought together friends and supporters of Dallas Contemporary for a special gathering in anticipation of the 2026 Gala, Candela. From meaningful conversations to beautiful moments shared throughout the night, the Gala Prelude offered an intimate glimpse into the spirit of connection, culture, and celebration that will shape this year’s Gala weekend.

The evening was made even more memorable by a special performance from the Latin Ensemble of Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, whose music brought the energy and rhythm of the evening to life.

This year’s Gala, taking place Saturday, September 26, will draw inspiration from a 1950s Latin American revival. In Spanish, candela means flame, but across Cartagena, Havana, and Miami, it carries something even more electric: a sense of movement, rhythm, color, and unforgettable energy.

Led by Co-Chairs Catalina Gonzalez Jorba (@cata_gonzalez_j), Ramiro Garcia (@almanzaramiro), and Peter Augustus Owen (@peteraugustus), Candela will channel that flame into an evening rich in culture, music, movement, and connection.

Stephanie Seay has an affinity for pink. It’s reflected in her Jan Showers-designed Dallas home, which is filled with pops of the blush-colored hue (the office especially). Naturally, the fashion blogger is a perfect ambassador for the ballerina core trend. “Pink is my go-to for date night—soft enough to feel romantic, bold enough to feel unforgettable,” says Seay. “It’s the easiest way to weave a little modern romance into your wardrobe.” See the story from the April issue now, at the link in our bio.
