I’m excited to be exhibiting a selection of plein air and studio oil and watercolour paintings at the Spring Exhibition at @thesentinelgallery alongside other talented local artists and friends.

The exhibition is also supporting @therobgeorgefoundation — a very worthwhile local charity helping young people facing life-threatening or terminal illness, and supporting talented young people in sport and the performing arts who may otherwise be held back financially from pursuing their goals.

🗓 19 May – 28 June
Open Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays
⏰ 10.30am – 4.00pm

If you’re nearby, do pop in 🌿

Popped by @thesentinelgallery in Wivenhoe this afternoon 🤍

The current exhibition features work by two Ukrainian artists and it was really lovely to spend some time with both collections in the space.

Viktoriia’s work is photography-based and explores landscapes and scenes of Ukraine. Her compositions are absolutely beautiful and it was amazing to see that so many of her pieces had already sold ✨

A huge shoutout to @artsyimagegallery who did all of the printing and framing for Viktoriia’s pieces…….the quality is incredible and everything was so beautifully presented 🙌

Alongside this, there was a wonderful selection of oil paintings by Michael Velychko, ranging from landscapes to florals, as well as handmade pieces by his relatives, which added such a lovely personal touch to the display……

If you get the chance, definitely pop down and have a look before it closes on Sunday ⭐️⭐️

Visiting Tina Bullen’s Solo Exhibition this afternoon was such a lovely experience. The room felt alive with the beautiful collection of landscapes and horizons that seemed to stretch far beyond the canvas.

Her pieces had incredible presence, and invited you to slow down and ‘wander’ through them taking in every brushstroke, colour and shadow……………..

I had the honour of having Tina walk me through the exhibition painting by painting, piece by piece, which allowed me to fully immerse myself within her artistic processes.

We spoke about her beginnings, how she started out, she shared the landscapes that hold importance to her within her pieces, and how both medium and scale play a big role in what she creates. Oils give her the depth and flexibility she loves !
While larger canvases allow her to paint with her whole body, building atmosphere through sweeping features and layered colour. It was fascinating hearing how she knows when a piece needs to be carefully considered and planned, and when it wants to be more expressive and spontaneous- guided by emotion as opposed to structure.

I also loved to hear about her approach to titles, sometimes the names arrive before the painting and sometime it emerges only once the piece reveals itself. We also explored how music plays a role in some of her pieces and how she also loves to story tell through poetry.

Tina shared some amazing advice and really thought provoking ideas, I really appreciate the time she took to speak to me!! This conversation lasted well over an hour… Should I start videoing these conversations to share ? #artreel #localartistsupport #smallcreator

Went to see the @dedhamartsociety ‘Winter Exhibition’ today at @thesentinelgallery ❄️❄️

So disappointed that I missed the opening but what a lovely exhibition !!!
Full of airy landscapes, thoughtful compositions and a few pieces that invited me in to linger a little longer.

The exhibition blended together impressionist, contemporary realist and light expressionism styles for a beautifully aesthetic collection of pieces #supportlocalartist
