We had an absolute BLAST hosting indie booksellers at the @harpercollins office last month for our NYC Fall Indie Bookseller Preview 📚

At this day-long event, indie booksellers attended publishing-focused programming, author panels and signings, got an up-close look at archival materials, connected with the HarperCollins sales team, and of course, took home a bevy of Fall 2026 titles.

When I wrote the script for INK GIRLS, I included quite a few songs. Not just because life is better when people randomly burst into song, but because it made sense for the guilds to have working songs, for the communities to have songs together, and I'm sure somewhere in Siannerra, there are sports chants too.

In CLOCK HANDS, I obviously needed to add to that song collection. So here's one of my favorite sequences in the book, framed by one of the many songs in Siannerra.

More Middle Grade Books📚

Here’s a list of middle grade books suitable for middle school kids! The “middle grade” book category is typically geared toward children ages 8-12. However, as we know, what’s of interest to an 8 year old may not, necessarily, be as appealing to a 12 year old.

So far, my 12 year old son has mostly enjoyed the books on this list. In fact, he recently finished, “I Am Kylian” and gives it a 5/5!

Save this post if your middle schooler is looking for fresh, new books to read! That way, when you’re ready to visit your local bookstore and/or local library late this summer, you’ll already have a list of books to look for.✨

Book description:

Happy Pride!

One of my favorite scenes in CLOCK HANDS is Vale and Stella going to the midwinter carnival together. Not just because @rowatree made the carnival look absolutely magical (look at it! doesn't it make you want to step into the page and dance?) but also because this is where Vale realizes that they deserve to be a part of Siannerra, that Siannerra belongs to them as much as anyone, and that sometimes joy is an act of defiance.

So here's to joy and rebellion and claiming a space to belong. 🫶

I've lost count of how many times I've watched this. I still feel chills every time. How did I just happen to come across such mind-blowingly gifted and dedicated people in my life??

It's hard to believe my debut graphic novel's been out the world for a year. To be honest, it's kind of been a blur! I've had the great fortunes of having my friends and community turn out for my book launch; of having book clubs read and love my book; of receiving a Golden Kite honor; and of having my book recognized by libraries and schools, including most recently the the 2026-2027 South Dakota Children's Book Awards. And that's a non-exhaustive list!
