The LASUCOM Book Club is a society consisting of book lovers and students keen on improving their literary prowess. #lasulife

The club was founded by Alli Omosimisola @simi_lafleur on the 9th of May, 2021. At the time, Omosimisola was the 14th LASUMSA Social Director, so the Book Club was one of her initiatives to create a more sociable environment for the medical students.

About the drive that brought about the creation of the Book Club, she says; "I noticed that book lovers always struggle with keeping up with non-medical books, so I wanted this to be an avenue where book lovers can come together to share their thoughts, and motivate themselves to continue what we all love— experiencing the other worlds that can only be discovered in the pages of a book".

Though their meeting place is at the Lagos State University College of Medicine, the club is also open to non-medical students. Members convene every 1st Sunday of the month to review different genres of books from romance, to African folklore, and poems.

In addition, the club allows for an open mic session where members with literary works can present their art to other members for opinions and constructive reviews.

Registration of new members is ongoing and is open to Lasucomites and non-lasucomites. Send us a DM If you are a book lover and would like to join the LASUCOM Book Club.
