Our current economies total addiction to fossil fuels and the fertilisers made from them is rapidly destroying our 🌎’s precious soil and ecosystems. From farming failure to war and climate breakdown - we have to change the way meet our needs for food and fuel and fibre production and start leaving the remaining #fossilfuels in the ground!!

We passionately believe that returning to forest based systems for our food and farming sector is a powerful Sollution to pollution and that biochar creation for local composting is a Sollution multiplier.

Using the heat from the smokeless #biochar creation process to replace the massive use of oil and gas in all our factories 🏭 would create demand for a revival of #coppicing and sustainably managed woodlands again…

THE NEXT INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION COULD BE POWERED BY FOOD FORESTS !!

If we want to carry on eating 🌎 here we need to start investing in this transition to #permaculture - to regenerativeagriculture

We are excited to share more about this in our upcoming and workshop with @hayregenerativesoilscic and the @thesoilfactoryuk and one of the rewards on our campaign is a two hour deep dive talk and presentation with @compost.tom exploring the different ways of making biochar and the best ways to capture the hear 🔥

Hats off to those that have inspired us on this journey - Brian Carbonara @carbonconsciouscreations @carbonfarmers @carbon_gold_biochar and Ed Revell from @greengathering_ and events @fernhillfarm1 back in the early days! 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤

🐛 THE SOIL IS EATING THE BAGS – LAST CHANCE!

The final bags of our Living Soil are on the shelf at @SeasonsForestrow… and they’re not hanging around (literally).

We’re down to the last few – available 2-for-1 – before they also start nibbling through the cardboard. 🪱📦

This batch has been a wild ride of learnings. The next version (coming in autumn 🍂) will be better packed, possibly in returnable containers, bulk formats, and refill stations at local markets.

But for now, let’s make sure this compost gets to work in your garden.

🛒 Pop down to Seasons to grab yours
📸 Tag us in your growing photos, garden wins, and worm stories
🌱 May your plants thrive on this stuff – and if they are, tell us!

🌱🔥 “The soil is so alive it’s eating the bags!”

We’ve learned something this week: our Living Soil really is living. So much so, it’s begun breaking down the Hessian bags we’ve stored it in. Not ideal for stock control—but a potent reminder of what we’re working with.

To move this powerful compost from warehouse to wormhole ASAP, we’re running a 2-for-1 sale on all bags at @SeasonsForestRow until stock runs out. We’ve got cardboard boxes ready if the bags don’t hold, and we’d much rather this soil goes to good homes than ends up wasted.

This isn’t just any compost: it’s biochar-enriched, microbe-packed, tested with a fungi-to-bacteria ratio perfect for vegetables (0.87:1), and made from local Sussex food waste by nature’s underground workforce.

We’re learning fast. This was our first time using Hessian bags, and clearly, we’ve got more to figure out about packaging and storage. But this moment has also made something beautifully clear: we’re working with real life here.

If you want to support our work beyond this sale, there are two ways to help:

* Choose to pay the discounted price or add a donation at checkout to support our mission.
• When we launch our Crowdfunder (soooon-ish), you’ll be able to support our vision for neighbourhood composting across Sussex.

For now, come grab a bag (or more!). Your garden—and our fledgling movement—will thank you.

📍Available only at Seasons Wholefoods, Forest Row
🛒 Sale runs while stock lasts
🙏 Bulk buying encouraged!

The links between soil health and human health are undeniable 🌱

Globally, soil erosion costs us $400 billion, jeopardising food production, soil health, and human health.

Nature generates soil through a process of succession over many hundreds of years.

@generation.soil is going to mimic this process of succession by planting edible trees 🌳

We’re using trees such as wild cherry, which will eventually form our canopy 🍒

Rather than waiting for hundreds of years for it to occur naturally, we aim for our canopy to start establishing at the same time as our shrub species 🍓

We’ve got apple trees as our understory layer, and the next step is to put berry canes in.

We will use ground cover crops that grow quickly, such as leguminous and nitrogen-fixing crops like clover and alfalfa, which we can grow rapidly and then chop and drop to accelerate the soil-building process.

To achieve this, we are seeking to raise £20,000 through our crowdfunding campaign, which can be found using the link in our bio.

We envision a city where food is grown on our doorsteps and food waste is fed directly back into the soils beneath our feet.

Let’s transition to a circular food system ♻️

It starts with generating soil 🪱

We’re excited to be packaging loads more of our local #compost in collaboration with @thesoilfactoryuk tomorrow. There isn’t any other compost like this as it’s 25% pure Biochar with EM (effective microorganisms) from @agriton.uk blended with 75% of our #soilfoodweb BIODIVERCITY compost 🤩 we love the work of handling it and seeing the life and then seeing and hearing what our customers are growing with it 😇 making compost is the best job in the world!! 🌱🌳

Exciting announcement 📣 that this batch will also be headed to the best shop in the world as well! 🙌 @seasonswholefoods are soon to be supplying our Earth Repair Kit compost bags and the soils of #forestrow are about to become more alive!!

Can’t believe it’s been nearly 1 month since the launch of The Soil Factory. There are many foundations being laid for the #compostrevolution at the moment and were proud / excited to be partnering with incredible local enterprises there like @the_artisan_forest_kitchen & @wegrow.cic & @seasonswholefoods on equipping the good people of Forest Row and Lewes and Brighton and beyond with all the best #compost and #composting equipment, knowledge and inspiration that they need ! 🤎 🦠 🍄

It’s time to make the announcement 📣

The next Mycelium conversation has landed and we couldn’t be more excited about this one. We have listened to the masterpiece that is Entangled Life again twice since @merlin.sheldrake confirmed this and the composting community are buzzing!

Decomposers of the world 🌍 stand up now.
You are all invited to join this call. Bring your Mycelium bodies to the internet for two hours to receive the fungal broadcast.

We have created a special membership for everyone that joins this call and its name is MULCH !

We’re going to be sharing composting tips with Merlin as well as hearing a presentation from him about his current work and adventures in the mycoverse.

Warning! ⚠️ this conversation may make your world, change your mind and shape your future.
