Thinning, shedding, or scalp tenderness should never be dismissed as normal. The sooner changes are recognized, the sooner a client can see a board-certified dermatologist.
But what happens after the dermatologist visit? Join me Tuesday, October 27 at 7 PM ET as I go live with @thestrandnetwork to talk about how to support your client from there.

A little work, a little play, and a whole lot of purpose! 🌉✨

Spent an educational, fun-filled weekend in San Francisco, soaking up knowledge, enjoying new experiences, and making memories along the way.

One thing about me: I’m always a student of my craft! ❤️

Whether it’s loc care, scalp health, business, or personal growth, I believe continuing to learn is part of showing up better for the people I serve.

And yes, we can learn AND have a good time doing it! 😂

@thestrandnetwork - Think of medication as the emergency surgery work to get the inflammation under control and the holistic care with myself would be like wound care …. Get it 😉…….One of the most powerful parts of The STRAND Network workshops is our Cosmetology Fireside Chat! This is where my colleagues and I, as STRAND Network Ambassadors, get to have real conversations about how to take everything we’ve learned and make it practical in our everyday salon practices. We share our real life experiences, challenges, and solutions so that every cosmetologist leaves equipped, confident, and ready to go home and hit the ground running! ✨ The Beauty of Collaboration: Connecting the Dots Between Beauty, Health & Wellness! ✨

There is something truly powerful about bringing together dermatologists, cosmetologists, trichologists, and wellness professionals who share one common vision: understanding beauty and health from the inside out. 💫

When different professions come together, we bridge the gaps between skin, hair, body, mind, and overall well-being. We exchange knowledge, share experiences, and discover how everything is interconnected.

Because beauty is more than what we see on the outside. It’s also a reflection of what’s happening within. 🌿

When we collaborate instead of working in silos, we elevate our knowledge, strengthen our communities, and empower one another to educate, inspire, and transform lives.

My mom experienced #thestrandeffect™️ for the San Francisco Workshop🙌🏾, she was soooooo impressed by all of the knowledge and passion in one room! She kept saying “everyone is so smart”……. FYI My mom was my first HUMAN hair model at 3/4 years old 🤣. We would take naps together and she would wake up with a new look. She always laughed and smiled when she saw her hair. She always encouraged, and that encouraged me to pursue. To all of the moms out there…. Your work is not in vain. Keep believing. For every person who has walked through my doors with uncertainty in their eyes, this weekend was for you. 🤍

Hair loss is rarely just about hair.

It’s the memories woven into every curl and coil. The confidence, creativity, and culture we carry with us.

🥂 Thank you to everyone who joined us this weekend! S.T.R.A.N.D. brought hairstylists and dermatologists together to explore how early recognition, medical knowledge, and empathetic conversations can help individuals of all hair types and textures feel seen, heard, and better supported throughout their hair-loss journeys.

Lastly, a heartfelt thank you to the visionary founders of S.T.R.A.N.D., Dr. Chesahna Kindred and Susan L. Peterkin! 🎉

From creating the nation’s first dermatologic salon to pioneering an educational approach that unites dermatology and cosmetology, your innovative collaboration continues to champion inclusive research, empower underserved communities, and inspire a more equitable future for generations to come.

DAY 1: S.T.R.A.N.D. NETWORK 🧬🤎✨

When God aligns you with the people, places, and opportunities that confirm the vision He’s placed on your heart… WHEW! 🥹🙌🏽

Day 1 was nothing short of AMAZING!

To sit in a room and receive knowledge from licensed dermatologists WHO LOOK LIKE ME 👀 was both fulfilling and validating! It was confirmation that the direction God is leading me in this industry is so much bigger than just doing hair. It’s about bridging the gap between beauty, scalp health, education, and intentional care. 🤎

My Loyal Ladiies, THIS IS FOR YOU! 🫶🏽

I cannot wait to take everything I’m learning and pour it right back into the women who trust me with their crowns. From addressing hair and scalp concerns to building relationships with dermatologists who genuinely care about our health, my goal is to create an experience where beauty and wellness work hand in hand.

I’m especially excited about the opportunity to cultivate partnerships with these medical professionals, creating a trusted network of care that allows me to provide healthier, more intentional services while helping every Ladii feel as beautiful as she truly is. 👑

And apparently, DAY 1 was just the appetizer! 👀 Day 2 is about to be a whole DOWNLOAD of knowledge! After completing the program, I’ll officially be certified AND connected to a network of like-minded professionals who share the same passion for elevating our industry.

God isn’t just expanding my knowledge. He’s expanding my PURPOSE. 🙏🏽✨

The Ladii Like Experience is evolving, and I’m so grateful to be walking in this season of growth.

Oh, and one more thing… THEY FED ME GOODT! 😂🍽️ Because apparently we’re nourishing minds, scalps AND stomachs over here!

Day 2, I’m READY! 🤎

As a dermatologist who’s experienced hair loss, here’s what I wish more people, including physicians, knew about hair loss in Black women. ⇩ 🤍

⊹ 32% felt their doctor understood African American hair.
In a 2014 study, fewer than 1 in 3 surveyed Black women who discussed hair concerns with a physician felt their doctor understood African American hair. Understanding hair means considering texture, styling practices, scalp health, and the person behind every strand.

⊹ 82% reported negative emotions related to hair loss.
In a separate study of 34 Black women with central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia (CCCA), approximately 82% reported embarrassment, frustration, or self-consciousness. Hair loss can affect far more than what we see in the mirror.

Behind every strand is a story. Your story deserves to be heard.

This Saturday, October 17, I’ll be joining the S.T.R.A.N.D. Hair Loss Workshop in San Francisco to discuss the emotional aspects of hair loss.

S.T.R.A.N.D. brings hairstylists and dermatologists together, bridging the gap between the salon chair and the examination room.

A more equitable future in hair care begins when our communities feel heard, understood, and empowered to advocate for their health.

With a little help from science, we can understand what’s happening to your follicle. Compassion helps us understand what’s happening to the person.

💌 What’s one thing you’ve always wished your hairstylist or dermatologist understood about your hair?

These photos were taken at the AFRICAN AMERICAN HEALTH COALITION
SKIN DEEP MELANIN MATTERS SCREENING INITIATIVE- SPONSORED BY @elilillyco , DESIGNED TO BRING FREE SKIN HEALTH SERVICES DIRECTLY INTO UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES🙏🏾 Whenever I’m conducting a scalp analysis my first line of defense is to listen & hear. I take notes, I ask follow up questions…… I document all of my notes & then I began to assess their scalp and hair….I take photos & add detail notes to what I’m observing…. These photos and notes are valuable for my Trichology practice because we can evaluate what’s happening over time. Once we are done I give my recommendations of dermatologist and health care providers & then inform them of holistic care practices that we will be conducting throughout their service….. THERE IS VALUE IN THIS ✔️

The side part was a cover up.

She’d flipped it to one side for years so nobody would see her scalp.

Here’s the truth. A part just moves the spot you’re worried about.

So we did mesh integration, and her real hair underneath grows right through it.

Then I parted it straight down the middle. Look at her face when she saw it!

If you’ve been parting around your scalp, fill out my inquiry form and we’ll set up your consultation.
