Are you supporting the arts and the artists 🧑‍🎨

In this economy and this art market, the arts and artists are really feeling it. Many people say art is not a necessity. I get it, you can’t eat it - or at least you’re not supposed to. But what is the value of life without art? I would argue that it very much is a necessity 🖼️

The arts and the artists need you to stay alive. If you aren’t looking to collect art, you can still help the artists and organizations you love with word of mouth and by sharing what they do 🙏

If you’re interested in my art, comment COLLECT CARINI or DM me. And stay up to date on the latest news by signing up for my email. Make sure you check out the Hope exhibition at @thestudiodoor in @fabuloushillcrest 🌈 on exhibit through Nov 6 🚪

I'm so honored and grateful to be a part of the Hope show @thestudiodoor I apply to many show calls that fit pieces I've already created. This time, the theme of the Hope show inspired me to create something unique in response. The world feels scary and hard right now in so many ways, and it is so tempting at times to give in to despair. But in my own life and all around me I see the difference community makes, I see the difference love as a verb makes, I see the difference direct support makes, and I see what changes come when we start with our own sphere of influence and dare to work for and believe in a kinder, gentler, more just world. Hang in there, my friends, and hold on to hope. When you feel like sitting and cursing the dark, curse away for a bit, and then light one tiny candle 🕯️ for yourself or someone else.

Lilith - an abstraction
I got the shape complete.
Now it’s time to start adding the layers of paper. First is a layer of newspaper. The paste I’m using is made from a mixture of water and flour.
I learned the type of art, Cartoneria, during my first residency @made_creatives_in_residence.
I can’t wait to return in just two weeks!!

Honored to have my painting in the Hope show at @thestudiodoor 🚪 The reception last night was beautiful, and the show is on exhibit until November 6th 🖼️

These are challenging times for many, particularly artists and small businesses. If there is an independent artist or small business you like, they need your support to keep going. I need your support to keep going. Every order makes a difference. If you aren’t in the market for something, you can still support. Sharing, referrals, and word of mouth are huge ❤️

This world really needs art right now. Art is the bridge that can connect us. Art is the hope 🌉 🙏

You can see more of what I do at link in bio 🧑‍🎨
