THE BIG SERVE 2026 | @thesummitnc 🤍🕊️
•
Every year on the first weekend of October, the summit church does not have normal service.. but instead, we go out in the community to BE THE CHURCH. To be the hands and feet of Jesus. 🫶🏻🥹 We get to spread kindness & love on the community just as Jesus said to.

So thankful to be part of this amazing community.

Last week our church had volunteer opportunities for anyone who attends to go out and Love First ALL over our community! ❤️❤️ It’s called The Big Serve!

One of those serves was at East Forsyth Middle School, where about 40 volunteers showed up ready to work and love on the staff at EFMS!

Our group got to give the teachers’ lounge a makeover. Another group worked on the sensory room, others tackled conference rooms, supply closets and bathrooms. So many hands doing different things, all with the same purpose.

Serving alongside people who simply want to love on others is what it’s all about. ❤️

Here’s a look at the before + after of the teachers’ lounge!

The Summit Church at Kernersville and Oak Ridge has been doing The Big Serve for years. I’ll tag them in this video if you want to check out some of the other Big Serves that happened all around the Triad last week.

Ephesians 2:10
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

Kindness is free, and during Big Serve weekend, so were the coffee and mums as we met our neighbors right where they are.

It was more than coffee talk. We pray our time with them left them feeling known, encouraged, and that the love of Jesus is for them.

And yeah, petting all the pups was a perk. ☺️

A special Thank You to @thestrugglebusws and @dadjokecoffee for teaming up with us! Serving a variety of quality drinks, incl. tasty fall lineups, they had options for all. Support local, friends.

And keep loving first!🤍

Another 44 beds built today!

We are ending the weekend with incredibly grateful hearts! Today, members of The Summit Church – Kernersville joined us and spent their morning building 44 beds for children in our community.

We are beyond blessed to have the support of
The Summit Church – Kernersville and are so grateful for this partnership. Thank you for showing up, working hard, and helping us make sure more children across our community have a bed to call their own.

The BIG SERVE weekend is something we look forward to every year! Our church closes the doors for the weekend and we go out into our community and love on and serve others.Lexi and I serve project we chose was the SECU house. This is affordable housing for patients and their loved ones that are traveling from out of town for treatment. As I was walking in the front door I saw this Dad with his son. The child probably about 8 years of age was happily skipping in through the doors. I giggled to myself thinking boy I wish I had some of his energy. Then later I saw the two pushing a wheel chair down a hall and he ran the chair into the wall. The boy looked up at his Dad and they both giggled which made me giggle. I decided to walk out to my car to retrieve a drink. As I was walking back in through those same front doors I saw the boy and the wheelchair with his mom’s very frail body. She was so thin, bald and had those exhausted from fighting for so long eyes. My heart literally fell out of my chest and instant tears filled my eyes. I felt instantly like I was looking into my sister Hollys eyes. I know that journey this sweet family is walking all too well. I immediately said a prayer for this family. The facility was full of families just like this. Each of them are in the hardest days of their life! Being a part of this where we were able to love on them in some way just blessed my heart. Our group created door hangers that they can hang outside each of the roos to make it feel like less of a hotel room and more like home. Another group from our church was there serving all the residents a yummy breakfast. This is such a beautiful facility. I am truly grateful we were able to be a part of this serve. It truly touched my heart in so many different ways. We all get caught up in our day to day life. We are to be the hands and feet of Jesus. I am going to try and challenge myself to find other ways to serve others throughout the year. Not just on our BIG SERVE weekend. Honestly, it blessed me far more than it blessed the residents staying there. It literally fed my souls. Thank you Summit Church for the reminder that we are to Love First!
