Bride’s Story

What are the odds? Two people, born in the same month, raised in the same mother church, joining @citychurchlagos on the very same day — without even knowing each other. Signing up for membership class at the same time as strangers, while life quietly aligned our paths behind the scenes.

We are both mini-FBIs in our own little worlds, both carefree about our hair — ready to switch it up however we please. Our shared love for sneakers, music, and tech (well, he’s more music, I’m more tech) felt like a secret code only we could understand. Even our birth years feel like they were made to match — you could literally reshuffle his to make mine.

Neither of us liked parties; we preferred the comfort of quiet spaces, especially when those spaces had just the two of us. And when it comes to lemons, let’s just say — we both love them, though only one of us squeezes their face dramatically after each bite and takes lemon-buying more seriously (hint: not me 😅).

Our first outing together was at Twinwaters, a name that felt almost symbolic — like two rivers finally meeting. Somewhere between the laughter and the shared plates, it became clear: this was different.

Later, we created a playlist and called it “What Are The Odds” — the same words we kept finding ourselves saying over and over. Now, that phrase has become even more special; it’s now our wedding hashtag too.

Of course, love isn’t just about the similarities — it’s about the beautiful differences too.
He’s a millennial; I’m Gen Z.
He’s the tea connoisseur who makes his brew from scratch; I’m perfectly fine without it.
He’s serious about eating healthy and early, while I take a slightly more... creative approach.
He has a habit of falling asleep early and passionately advocates for it, while I’m wide awake at midnight, still living my best night-owl life.

And yet, in the midst of all our quirks, differences, and stubborn habits, we found something rare and real — love that feels easy, love that feels like home.

Now, we’re not just taking a step toward forever — we’re running toward it, hand in hand, heart to heart.

Groom’s story

#WhatAreTheOdds - Our Love Story.
I still remember how it all began with a completely random WhatsApp post on the 10th of February 2024. Neither of us expected that a simple message would spark something so extraordinary. But from that day on, we talked, Everyday. And not just small talk- it felt like our souls were catching up after a lifetime apart. It was as if we had known each other forever. We laughed over our shared interests, amazed by how aligned our worlds were. It was so surreal, we coined; phrase that stuck with us:

#WhatAreTheOdds. Because really, what were the odds that two people so alike would stumble into each other’s lives in such a random, perfectly imperfect way. There were moments when it felt like I was speaking to my younger self-_like you were a mirror stumble into each other’s lives in such a random, perfectly imperfect way. There were moments when it felt like I was speaking to my younger self-like you were a mirror reflecting those parts of me. And as time passed, differences began to show. Strangely enough, I welcomed them. Because as much as we connected like kindred spirits, I realized that growth lives in contrast. I had feared we were too alike, like something essential was missing. But your differences filled in the gaps I didn’t even know I had. You challenge me, comfort me, complete me.

You’ve shown me that love isn’t just about sameness-it’s about harmony. About growing not just together, but because of each other. Today, as we stand hand in hand, I still smile and think, What are the odds? But now, I know the answer. We were alwavs meant to find each other.

Just like @thetechsiss, have you ever felt too far gone for God?
Like you’ve messed up so badly, there’s no coming back?

This is to remind you that resurrection isn’t just a story from the Bible — it’s something God still does.
Even now. Even in you.
