This photo tastes like nostalgia and gratitude — that feeling when you’re forced to part, for a while, from the ones who are on your wavelength, the ones who became so close in such a short time.

All performances are done.

We’re all here in this picture.
And yet, we’re not.

What is here is that part of us that creates magic — even when life is pushing hard against us. When it’s brutally cold outside, and these beautiful weirdos are dancing and laughing like no one else in the entire state, i guess.

That’s how light is made.
That’s how love burns.
That’s what friendship feels like — and gratitude for every moment we gave each other.

Let’s take care of one another.
Let’s protect the madness and the silliness in each other.

Because honestly — this crazy world is still alive just because of that.

This makes me so happy. I made #pączki for a local #Koliada celebration this past weekend and from what I was told, they were thoroughly enjoyed. I love connecting with others who are also exploring and deepinging their relationships with cultural traditions. It feels really powerful. @thetelegraphschool

A peek into my @thefolkist residency at the @kirklandartcenter . Learn how to make a Przeszkadzajka (disturbance/nuisance in Polish).
Big shout out to @zywa_pracownia , for the inspiration.
And thanks to Folkist & the KAC! Having the time and dedicated space has already made such a difference in my practice. Koliada prep is almost done and I've planned most of my trip to Poland to research springtime water rituals for the Sacred Waters project.

Join Folkist Space artist Resident @dzelisnow and costumed performers from @thetelegraphschool for a free evening of community ritual and revelry, beginning at 6PM on January 24th in the @kirklandartcenter gallery!

Gather at 6PM at the KAC to learn an easy caroling song from the performers, then we’ll parade as a group to the village green for a short immersive performance. This is a family-friendly event. Dress warmly!

This event is FREE thanks to the generosity of the Telegraph School artists and our residency partners, funders, and hosts— but we will be collecting voluntary donations via cash and QR code for the performers, who are generously donating their time. 100% of any donations go directly to the performing artists.
