Thank you again @tennstateu for having me!

What an honor to speak and be amongst such an incredible panel of professional creative peers as we minister to students who sat in the same seats we did.

What are we all doing this for if not to inspire the next generation! And in a field like entertainment, mentorship is essential for success!

I hope that you are motivated and empowered by what you heard and are inspired to go forth and serve!

Shout out to the @alexgibbslive for inviting me to the chat!

My #TSUHomecoming Started like this…. 🤗Such an honor… 🥹✨🫶🏾💙.
Kicking off Homecoming Week at my alma mater, Tennessee State University, with the “Compass to the Curtain” panel was nothing short of monumental.

Sitting at the table alongside these phenomenal, power-packed colleagues including Emmy Award winners, an A&R Music Exec, Broadway/ TV & Film stars, and industry innovators was a true answer to prayers.

The room was full of support and love from my childhood friends, my former professors, current faculty members, the community, and most importantly - beautiful current undergraduate students that were eager to learn more about how to strengthen their crafts and hear real-life wisdom from alumni that truly care about them and want the best for them.

We came with a mission: to pour real truth, industry keys, and encouragement into TSU’s rising talent. To see the students’ eyes light up, to answer their questions, and to feel their passion made every second worth it.

The impact made in that room was unforgettable, and knowing we touched the hearts and minds of future leaders fills my soul with so much gratitude!

TSU gave me my foundation, and there is no greater joy than returning to sow back into the soil that grew me.

Thank you to every student, faculty member, and colleague who made this event such a massive success. The work doesn’t stop here we are already gearing up for the next one this Spring! If you want to support this movement or stay connected to attend the next one in the spring please comment below and tap in with us 🫡 ✨.

Special thank you to my good friend @alexgibbslive for leading the charge and curating this amazing event #Legacy

🎭 FROM TSU TO THE STAGE — AND BACK HOME.

Today, I’m going home.

I’m returning to Tennessee State University for Homecoming Week as Creator & Executive Producer of The Compass to the Curtain, an initiative built to bridge the gap between graduation and a working career.

Talking with friends and colleagues across the industry, we kept coming back to the same concern: students graduate with real talent and training, but without the knowledge, relationships, mentorship and access to navigate what comes next. Mentorship should start senior year, before they land in a new city trying to build a network from scratch.

My journey took me from TSU to Broadway, national tours, film & TV, Postmodern Jukebox, international stages, producing and hosting. Now I want to use those experiences to open a clearer path for those coming behind me.

To everyone who said yes to this vision: thank you. Showing up for these students means everything.

Big Blue, this is for you.

🎬 Erica Goings — Emmy-winning Casting Director & TV Producer
🎭 Terra Strong — Film & Television Actress
🎥 Thomas Staples — Executive Producer, Film Director & Media Executive
👗 Rashante Lee — Wardrobe/Costume | Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, She-Hulk, Creed
🎶 Patrick Dailey — International Countertenor
🎵 Tim Reid — Senior Music Executive | 5x Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Player

Moderated by Dave Ragland and Tamiko Robinson Steele.

It’s about access. Mentorship. Relationships. Preparing students for what happens AFTER graduation.

🎯📸 J LEE ON THE HUNT PAPARAZZI — A FATHER, A SON & A LEGACY!

Now THIS was a special moment to catch! 👀📸

Tim Reid Jr. was honored at the Living Legends Foundation Awards, and who better to present him with his award than his own father, legendary actor Tim Reid Sr.

Talk about a full-circle moment — a father who built his own legacy standing beside his son as he receives recognition for building his own. 🔥🏆

Father presenting son. Two generations. One powerful legacy.

The Living Legends Foundation, Inc. celebrated a historic milestone Friday evening as music, entertainment, radio and media leaders gathered at Flourish by Legendary in Atlanta for the organization’s 35th Anniversary Awards Dinner & Gala.

For more than three decades, the Living Legends Foundation has championed the executives, broadcasters, entrepreneurs, advocates and visionaries whose work behind the scenes has helped shape the sound, business and global influence of Black music. With Chaka Khan serving as Honorary Ambassador and Q Parker as Honorary Gala Chair, the 35th anniversary served as both a celebration of this extraordinary legacy and a reminder of the nonprofit’s continued mission to honor the past, support industry professionals in the present and invest in the next generation of leaders.

“It has taken a moment to truly reflect on what it means to give 35 uninterrupted years of your life to something you believe in,” said David Linton, Chairman of the Living Legends Foundation. “Outside of my 45-year marriage, few things in my life have received that level of devotion. I thank God for allowing me the privilege of serving my industry family through the Living Legends Foundation and for the honor of serving as only the third Chairman in its 35-year history.”

Congratulations to all the honorees!

The @livinglegendsfoundation Gala was truly a night of EXCELLENCE!… Congratulations to this year’s honorees. Basically the people/living legends in this room are the reason your favorite artist/actor/talent, is your favorite!… It was a beautiful evening with a room full of greats that I respect, support & love. I didn’t get to see & take pics with everyone I wanted to. But it’s super dope to be able to call many of these individuals my big sisters & brothers… 🫶🏾🏆🎤👏🏾🎬❣️🎶🎹✨
