On this episode of the Adaptive Outdoorsman Podcast, presented by Trackchair , we welcome disabled U.S. Navy veteran Vito Carpinelli and his son Nathian to share their remarkable journey into hunting, youth hunting success, and their pursuit of unforgettable outdoor experiences. From a successful Coos deer nine-point buck to drawing multiple tags across the western United States, Vito and Nathaian discuss their passion for hunting, family traditions, and the determination it takes to pursue big game on a budget.

In today's episode, we discuss Vito's journey back into hunting after decades away, how a Louisiana hog hunt sparked Nathian's interest in the outdoors, and their experiences navigating hunting draws across multiple states. Vito shares the challenges of planning hunts, managing tag costs, scouting unfamiliar areas, and traveling across the country while balancing family life and a limited budget. We also explore hunter education, youth hunting opportunities, conservation, and the importance of making the most of every opportunity in the field.

The conversation continues with a look at their upcoming hunting adventures, including elk in Colorado, pronghorn in Wyoming, and mule deer in Utah. Vito and Nathian discuss the importance of sponsors, family, and friends in making these trips possible, along with the lessons learned from changing weather, challenging terrain, and the unpredictable nature of hunting. The episode also explores hunting traditions in Argentina, dream hunts, and the shared belief that hunting is about more than trophies it's about providing food, spending time together, and passing meaningful traditions on to the next generation. Kenzi and I went to the pond for some fall frogging, and did we have some fun. We lost count, but I would put the number around 12 when I finally called it after dark. She'll speak right up and tell you she caught 11 by herself.

The last time I mowed a couple of weeks ago, the leopard frogs were thick in the grass. Many stops, and I caught enough frogs for a good evening of fishing. With the front arriving tonight, this was that evening.

We lost a good number between getting Kenzi to help me reel them in and the bass hitting the weedbed, but that's what helps make the fishing tale even larger for Kenzi to tell!

Like she says every time, she loves going fishing with me; that makes these times together trophies to me.

Dear Friends,
It feels a little funny to write that greeting—some of you knew me before I was born, and others I’ve never met in person, yet you’ve all become true friends by walking through this with us.
How do you hide in a 400+ lb power chair with a husband and four kids? How do you hide when you need help with everyday tasks, sit in front of the bleachers at sports games, or ask hundreds of people to help buy a home? Truthfully, my soul still defaults to wanting to hide, hope in quiet, and handle everything on my own. But hiding doesn’t fix what lies ahead. Thank you for your endless patience with me as I learn to share.
Over Labor Day weekend, our family hiked at Pokagon State Park using this track chair free of charge! Someday, I hope to own one.
September restarted weekly therapy in Ann Arbor. Ray was gone a week with the National Guard, requiring extra caregiver help at home. It’s a dynamic that impacts our whole family, and we’d love your prayers as we navigate having extra hands in our space.

We’re navigating logistics with our stored goods, but God has provided a home! Thanks to your incredible generosity, we’ve reached 50% of our goal! Every dollar given directly lowers our loan principal so our monthly payments will be sustainable long-term. We hope to move in by late October! Thank you. Those are the only words I have left. Please keep praying. I want God to reveal Himself through my life, even on the days I still want to hide.
