NINETY DAYS LATER- WHAT REMAINS Ninety days ago, I took a giant step ... To create and grow... To learn and to evolve... Ninety days ago, I didn't see myself here... I couldn't see myself reach this height... Doubts filled my mind as to what was possible... Yet still Ninety days later, it still feels like a midnight dream... I have sojourned through my emotions and my fears... My joys and excitements.... I have finally arrived at my destination and putting an end to my sojourn... But Growth is constant... Change is constant... So , Ninety days later, what remains are the ashes of yesterday,  burned at the altar of my sacrifices... And what emerged  out of those ashes is a brazzen figure, ready to take on the world anew... Alas, Ninety days later, a phoenix arises anew from the ashes... Still ablaze with its creative fire... Ready to baptise the world in its truth.... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

THE DAY I SURPRISED MYSELF Every day I look back at my life I am surprised by how far I've come... How much storms I've weathered and what vast seas of trouble I've crossed to be here... Everyday I sit and ponder how much I've endured to be here... I am reminded that I am growing... And I am learning and evolving... I'm not my best version yet... But everyday I surprise myself by how much I learn and evolve into... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

A THOUGHT I NEVER SAID OUT LOUD People nurture thoughts... The good, the bad and the ugly... And they say thoughts are what make a man... Also the good , the bad and the ugly... Hence my fear to speak my thoughts out loud... I've found a way to separate my person from my thoughts... But People,  humans won't see it that way... They still worship the old gods... Judgement and criticism against what they don't understand... I rarely speak my  thoughts because I know they'd just shut it down... But the funny thing is my thoughts always manifest out right ... And no matter how dark they be... They always manifest... So I guess it's better I shut them down... Lest these heathens call me a prophet of doom #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

THE MISTAKE THAT MADE EVERYTHING CLEAR. You loved me or so I thought... I loved you or at least that was what I convinced myself ... But as time evolved, we came to the realisation that we were two hearts longing for a home in a desert... We both had alot to give but we never had footing enough to grow our love... We had enough love but not enough water to grow it... This love was never meant to be but we defied the odds... But as fate will have it... Our flaws and Our mistakes made us see the truth... It made everything clearer, that we were both just lying to ourselves... It was better that it came to an end, for both our sakes.... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

A HAPPINESS I DIDN'T RECOGNISE AT FIRST You came storming your way into my heart... How on earth was I supposed to know? ... I couldn't tell if you were a threat or a salvation... You fought through the defenses of my heart... How on earth was I supposed to just accept it?... Accept you?... But the gods willed it and the fates signed it... Cupid himself carved a path for you through to my heart... You were a happiness I didn't recognise at first... Or even see coming... But I'm glad you did, my life is more peaceful and perfect with you in it... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

A MOMENT THAT STILL FEELS UNFINISHED Late night brawls had become a thing... You were always seeking to ruin my evenings... Afternoon quarrels were the highlights of our day... I was always finding fault in your near inch perfect day... Morning duels we're our day starters... Always picking up from where we left off last night... Moments like these were never finished for us... We were always looking forward to spoiling each others day... It's probably why this distance is the perfect gift for us both... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

THE DAY I UNDERSTOOD WHAT I LOST I woke up this morning sweating and pulsing... It was all a dream... I thought you were really there, holding me in your arms again, like you did when i was a child... It was only Just a dream,  but why did it feel so real?... Why do I still feel the softness of your arms around me?... I guess I can never wrap my head around the fact that you really are gone... I really don't count what I lost when you were laid six feet deep... But on days like this , I understand the gravity of my loss... And I'm left with the question of why did you have to go so soon?... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

SOMETHING I SHOULD HAVE LET GO SOONER I saw it from afar... The silence,  the distance , the agitations and the anger... The anger especially, it spoke volumes and I saw it in your eyes we were at the end of the line... But something in me couldn't let you go... Something in me kept hoping... Hoping that you'll wake up and choose me once more... Like you did all those years before... But I was a ghost to you .... A fragment of your past while you were a fragment of my future... I hated the idea of leaving you, but I should have done that sooner... Now I'm drowning in this hurt, hoping for a saving grace.... I'm dying without you,  hoping for some kind of vague salvation... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

A FEELING I CAN'T NAME YET What am I even doing? Where have I been going? I've lied to myself so long I don't even know who I am or what I'm feeling anymore... And everyday it's a new flush of emotions and feels I don't understand ... I don't even have time to process previous ones.... It's a flood I can't even control... How does one fight something he doesn't know? How do I fight a feeling I'm but new to... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

THE DAY I REALISED SOMEONE WAS HURTING TOO. One that fateful day , I woke up excited. I was finally going to see my dad since he'd undergone the surgery and it hurt more because he couldn't speak. I got dressed and waited for the car to arrive. It was a 2 hour drive to Jos from Pankshin but I didn't feel the exhaustion because I just wanted to see my father. I was car sick for most of the way and being a kid, they bought me sweets  which worked in calming the Nausea. We arrived in Jos that same morning and entered the house. My excitement died almost immediately. I couldn't recognise my father anymore. The sickness had gotten to him. All I could afford at that moment was tears and I let it flow freely. And for the first time in my life ,I saw my father cry too. I realised then that he wasn't a god and that he was just a man. A man who hurt too. That was the day I realised I wasn't the only one In pain and that he was in more pain than I was. I rushed to him and hugged him. And even though he couldn't speak.  I felt him say it, I saw it in his eyes, I knew it then, He loved me. #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

A MEMORY I PROTECT CAREFULLY I still hear your cackles in the room ... Bringing back memories of the nights we stayed up until dawn... Laughing and chatting and living in the moment... Memories we made that still haunt Me but i can't  throw away.... It was never your fault to leave Me... You opened your arms to Death's embrace... A most beautiful and endearing sight to behold even though It left me in shatters... And so I guard the memories we made jealously because they're all I'll ever have to remember you by... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian

A TRUTH I FINALLY STOPPED RUNNING FROM Growing up I used to see alot of people and admiring them... In my error even seeing them as flawless... My childlike mind couldn't conceive them as humans... With flaws and misgivings... And so whenever I watched them fall and fail... It was engraved in my mind that  couldn't reach those levels because gods like them failed... But the truth was I never thought of myself as unique... Probably more gifted than my idols... And all I needed to do was believe in myself... I had run away for so long from this truth to allow myself bask in mediocrity... But I grew and I learnt and I stopped running from that truth and embracing it... Creating a platform for myself to show the world my potential... #creativewriterscrew #writelikeneverbefore #thewritersconference #Martian
