I’ve been posting images from @thewadsworth for days now and I just need a whole post for the architecture of the building. To start, I went twice in one month!! My first visit was on a Sunday afternoon and there was plenty of space to move around and see art undisturbed. Was very inspired by the spaces and how the museum blends new and old and finds creative ways to display works. My second visit was on a Friday midday and also not too crowded. Glad I had a second visit to see a few more pieces. Enjoyed seeing another @gisela_colon_ work as well! #thewadsworth #wadsworthatheneum #artmuseum #architecturelover #hartfordct

Works by Frederic Edwin Church at @thewadsworth. His epic landscapes took us by surprise with their scale! Church was born in Hartford, CT and his prolific travels led him to cross paths with Fritz Melbye, who traveled with Camille Pissarro. A collection of works by Melbye and Pissarro were left with Church and make up part of the Olana Collection, drawings from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Church was part of the Hudson River School group of painters, and also was one of the founding trustees of the Met Museum. These works in the Caribbean, Central America, and the US give a good example of his landscapes and travels. #fredericedwinchurch #thewadsworth #arthistory #landscapepainter #artlover

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday at The Wadsworth for Asian American Stories on Screen!

We had a wonderful afternoon screening Make Us Count and Nailed It, followed by a thoughtful panel discussion moderated by Catherine Shen, host of Where We Live on Connecticut Public.

Presented in conjunction with Ocean Vuong / MATRIX 199: I’m Sorry I Love You.

A special thank you to our partners at the Asian Pacific American Coalition of Connecticut, especially Dr. Quan Tran, and to our panelists Tiffany Nguyen, Maya O’Brien, and Kelly Tran. Thank you also to Simsbury High School for their work on Make Us Count and filmmaker Adele Pham for sharing Nailed It with our audience!
