⬇️⬇️CAPTION⬇️⬇️ Yesterday evening I had the pleasure to be invited by @wempe and @jacobandco to an amazing event in Munich to announce their new partnership. Among the many timepieces presented one in particular has impressed me the most: the Twin Turbo Furious, a horological spectacle that reflects the brand’s flair for the extreme. This follow-up to the 2016 Twin Turbo cranks the complexity up further, packing in a decimal minute repeater, a mono-pusher chronograph, and twin triple-axis flying tourbillons—each rotating at high speeds along three axes for dramatic visual effect and greater timekeeping precision. The movement, designed by Le Cercle des Horlogers, is the hand-wound calibre JCFM05, made up of an astounding 832 components. The watch’s sculptural 57mm-wide case is crafted from gold and titanium and unusual touches include a crank-handle winder and curved sapphire crystal, adding to the theatrical presentation. Its most novel complication is the reference time differential, inspired by racing pit boards, which displays lap-time differences via rotating red and yellow indicators. Meanwhile, the decimal repeater simplifies chime reading by sounding hours, 10-minute intervals, and minutes. Founded in 2000 by renowned designer Gérald Charles Genta, the brand continues his legacy despite Genta’s sale of the company in 2003. The Maestro 9.0 Roman Tourbillon is designed to reflect Roman architecture, combining elegance with durability. The 39 mm x 41 mm case is crafted from polished 316L stainless steel, with a bezel made of Grade 5 titanium treated with a striking blue Colormix finish. This enhances the bezel’s resistance and gives it a unique look. The watch is shock-resistant to 5G and water-resistant up to 100 meters, making it practical for everyday wear despite its complex mechanics. The distinctive ‘smile’ at 6 o’clock adds both aesthetic value and functionality, providing space for the flying tourbillon. The dial is made from uncoated 18K white gold with a hand-hammered finish, creating a unique texture for each watch. Roman numerals and blue Super-LumiNova-filled hands ensure legibility, while the flying tourbillon at 6 o’clock, made of Grade 5 titanium, showcases the Gérald Charles logo. The 9.0 calibre movement, based on the VMF 3024 by Vaucher Fleurier, powers the watch, featuring a 60-second flying tourbillon, 50-hour power reserve, and various decorative finishes. The movement’s rotor is crafted from 22K rose gold with a ‘Honeycomb’ design, ensuring both functionality and beauty.
