Some guests suit a little theatre. At Hotel Certosa di Maggiano, Frankie takes his place beside the red curtains with the composure of someone entirely accustomed to five-star hound treatment.

The welcome here is warm, attentive and wonderfully natural. Who doesn't dog-love Italy!

Poolside at Le Clair de la Plume, Frankie waits for the lavender to bloom beneath the historic village of Grignan. There is a particular pleasure in finding somewhere this private: a secluded garden, an unhurried afternoon, and centuries of French history just beyond the pool. This intimate boutique hotel makes exclusivity feel wonderfully understated—and Frankie feels entirely at home.

There’s something rather stately about Frankie on the lawns of Castel Monastero. Perhaps it’s Tuscany. The ancient stone, the stillness, the centuries of history surrounding him.

Or perhaps it’s simply Frankie. That quiet gaze. That extraordinary face. A little dignity, a little mischief, and an enormous amount of heart wrapped into one very handsome hound.

When God made this one, there was clearly a little extra love to spare.

There are breakfasts. And then there are South of France breakfasts - the kind that quietly consume an entire morning. Frankie discovered this rather quickly at Le Grenier. The kitchen became the unofficial headquarters: coffee lingering, something delicious always appearing, conversation drifting in and out, and Frankie strategically positioned at the centre of it all. Breakfast was exceptional, but it was the atmosphere that kept us there long after the plates had disappeared. Home away from home, with the 5 star touch with that irresistible French flair. #travelwithyourdog #petmom #petlovers

PROUD PIG! Pigcasso always posed before her Masterpieces for a snap shot after completion. Indeed, it was her stylish way of reminding us all that she was the creator of the canvas - no matter what the humans say! Less Meat. More Art. A former medieval monastery outside Siena, Certosa does old-world Italian elegance exceptionally well. And well, Frankie has taken up residence on the sofa at Hotel Certosa di Maggiano, where purified water is apparently worth waiting for - particularly when the staff are busy fussing over whether one’s couch is quite soft enough. #capetown #petmom #petlover #petfriendly #love

Luggage, camera, acton! The life of a travelling dog isn't just rewarded with an expansive calibre of warm welcomes along the way; the best part is packing up all the items needed for the world travels and not having to carry them all by himself. Lucky dog…but we all know that already!#petlover #petlife #petlovers #pet #travelwithpets
