POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I say this with every episode, but this was one of my favorites for so many reasons.

Thank you again @thewednesdayrefinery for your knowledge and tips on everything from prose to query letters!

Episode 16 is all about elevating your story and making your words come to life.

You can hear the full conversation where ever you listen to podcasts.

If you want to see the short writing prompt they used to teach us how to apply prose to your writing, check my stories for my blog. It completely changed the way I looked at my current WIP!

🚨 Your prose isn’t the problem. How you refine it is.

My friends from The Wednesday Refinery sat down with me to help bring clarity around prose and how it can help elevate your writing. They provided valuable insights on what to look for and what to avoid when it’s time to get through your edits.

💡 Here are a few of the many tips from episode 16:

- Adding prose should be intentional - “Elevated prose isn’t about adding more information. It’s about choosing the right words.”
- Stop listing. Start Revealing. - “Brown hair, blue eyes, red coat—that list doesn’t tell the reader anything interesting.”
- Protect your voice when refining your lines. - “Editing should sharpen your voice, not erase it.”

❓Did any of these tips help you think of your writing in a different way? Let me know in the comments!

I wanted my female main character, Imogen (aka Red), to come alive the page but my initial drafts fell flat. I know this is normal, but I wanted this story to be different…to be more me.

A chance class on elevating prose with @thewednesdayrefinery helped me find my voice and took my psychological thriller from commercial to literary. I call it my happy little accident. My story is shaping up to be something I’m so proud of and I can’t wait to share it with all of you.

I brought AJ Volante and Margie Libling to chat about elevated prose and the impact it had to my psychological thriller, What the Chrysalis Keeps.

If you want to hear how I created beauty in the darkness, check the latest episode out. 🔗 in my bio 📚
