To God be all the glory, honor, and praise. The author of our stories, the keeper of His promises, and the One whose divine hand has guided us into this moment.

Legacy. Far beyond crowns, titles, or material inheritance. It is the imprint we leave upon hearts, the lives we touch, and the impact that lives on long after our chapter has ended.

What began as two freshmen stepping into leadership has blossomed into a full-circle testimony of God’s faithfulness. Once entrusted with representing our freshman class, now entrusted with representing the very institution that has helped shape us. The crowns have changed, but the calling to serve has remained.

To our beloved Central State University, families, friends, and supporters, thank you for entrusting us with the honor of serving as your 2026–2027 Legacy Court.

These crowns carry the dreams of those before us, the hopes of those we serve, and the promise of those yet to come. They may rest upon our heads, but their purpose belongs to us all.

United by our commitment to Lead with L.O.V.E., Trust the Process, and champion the powerful visions of the court we have the honor of leading, we will leave Central State greater than we found it, standing firmly on the promise of Jeremiah 29:11.

One court. One purpose. A legacy greater than ourselves.

Click your heels three times … and take the memories with you! 👠❤️💛

Homecoming 2026 reminded us that there's no place like Central and no community quite like Marauder Nation.

To every Centralian: believe in your dreams, believe in your potential, and believe in the possibilities that lie ahead. Homecoming may bring us home, but our Central State spirit empowers us long after we leave.

Believe in yourself, Marauders. As Centralians, believe in you!

As Central State University prepares to crown its next Mister and Miss Central State during this year’s Homecoming celebration, we’re taking a look at how the incoming Royal Court spent the summer — and how those experiences are shaping the legacy they hope to build during their reign.

Mister Central State Nasaan Jackson and Miss Central State Asia Brown returned to Central State University with a collection of honors and a renewed sense of purpose after representing the university at the 24th Annual HBCU Kings & Queens Conference, held July 16-19 in New Orleans.

The four-day conference brought together more than 400 student leaders representing 57 historically Black colleges and universities from across the United States for leadership development, networking, professional growth and celebration.

For Central State, the trip marked a milestone. Jackson and Brown became the first Central State Royal Court to earn awards at the conference, receiving the Perseverance Award, Best King Photo Award and the King’s Suite Dreams Crown. They also placed third in the Suite Dreams fundraiser and received nominations for Most Impressive Onsite Intro and Best Advisor of the Year, recognizing their adviser, Talisa Boswell, director of Marauder Leadership and Engagement.

HBCU Kings and Queens carry more than a title. They carry the culture, the history, and the pride of their entire campus every time they step onto the yard. That is why we at Watch The Yard are launching a new series dedicated to introducing you to the leaders wearing the crown this year, continuing with Central State University.

The 19th Mister Central State University Nasaan Jackson is a senior Business Administration major concentrating in Marketing from Lansing, Michigan, and a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., initiated in Spring 2025. The 79th Miss Central State University Asia Trenise Brown is a senior Business Administration major concentrating in Marketing from Dayton, Ohio. Together, Jackson (@ttp_saan ) and Brown (@theyluvvasia ) represent Central State’s Marauder Nation with a shared commitment to legacy and love.

Watch The Yard put out an open call to HBCU Kings and Queens across the country and we were able to interview Jackson and Brown about their reign.

HBCU Student Leader Spotlight series. Today, we’re featuring Asia T. Brown, the 79th Miss Central State University. Brown is a 4th year Business Administration major, holding various student leadership positions starting with Miss Freshman.

📍Her advice for other students:

1. For those who are believers, keep God first & include Him in all you do.. you will need Him in this next chapter of your life.

2. Being uncomfortable in healthy ways forces you to grow, don’t run from it- run to it.

3. Be yourself, people respect authenticity more than a costume you’d wear to fit in. Someone needs who you are.

4. Ask for help as soon as you notice a struggle, do not wait until you are drowning to then grab a life jacket

5. Have faith that everything will work itself out because it always does.

6. Develop bonds and connections with your professors, faculty, & staff

7. Protect your reputation, your next step relies on the one you took before

My Royal Court and I had the privilege of being honored at Grambling State University’s Royal Tea. 👑 I thank President Lemelle, his family, his team, and Dr. George for pouring into us yesterday morning. 💛 President Lemelle stays finding ways to elevate students, and I am looking forward to serving alongside him this school year. It was truly an honor being part of the very first event hosted in the new Student Success Center! 🥹

To Miss Central State University, my sister in Christ, keep shining your light! This is our Queen Esther season, and I am so proud of how far we have come since being Miss Freshman together ❤️

As I lead and serve with dignity and grace, I am deeply grateful for the opportunities that the Lord continues to bless me with!
