I am honoured to be a 2025 @topalestinefilmfestival Filmmaker Resident🎥🍉

I made my first short film!! The Silence They Taught Us was made by pulling from old footage from @theyoungwontforget (film still in the works!) & new footage. I also had the joy of collaborating with my childhood bestie @jasmine.lesperance on animation + work with the amazing @noelpendawa in post 🎬

The film revolves around a common thematic for many Palestinians raised in the West. Fear is used to silence Palestinians, especially in professional spaces, forcing them to hide their identities as a cautionary survival tactic. Its a reflection on generational protectionism and a call to action: that reclaiming voice and visibility can strengthen and unite the community in the fight for liberation.

🎥 Screening Sept 28 @ 1PM as part of TPFF’s “Unsilenced” Anti-Palestinian Racism shorts series. Free tix in bio. Come through + please also support other TPFF films during the festival. Its a wonderful organization doing really great things for our community.

Grateful to @arabcanadianlawyersassociation @topalestinefilmfestival for supporting this project, co-presented by @watermelonpictures @regardspalestiniens @ijv.canada

Big thanks to @youssefmutawe for the movie poster 🫶🏼

All the small broll shots in a documentary might seem inconsequential to film but they all contribute to create the beautiful whole
