3 weeks ago I was in Paris and attended the @matieresfecalesparis show.

The show was a rebellious takeover of the Place de la République. Titled ‘The Ninety-Nine Percent’, it explored inequality by empowering marginalised immigrant communities in both the narrative and casting. It was an incredible experience.

Place de la République is an historic site for protest in Paris. Marianne, the female statue on the podium, has been the national personification of the French Republic since the French Revolution. In her right hand she holds an olive branch for peace. In her left, a tablet with the inscription “human rights”.

Marianne has become the visual focus of the weekends civil unrest in Paris and across France.

On substack, I’ve shared a long read about the connections between the Matières Fécales show and the protests. Other than the visuals, immigration is a devastating thematic link. What is fashion’s role in revolution when the world is in revolt? Link in bio 📌

Couture Détails

We recreated cracked plaster effect using over 2000 hand molded leather pieces.

It is puzzle of individually cut and sculpted white lamb leather pieces assembled onto a amplified hip corset with an exagerated layered chiffon and gauze déchiré train.

So much love and passion went into created this piece that took around 900 hours over a 4 month period to make. It was designed and drawn by us but our team of petit mains really made it come to life. Thank you Anabela, Yann, Ian, Eloi and Juliette for making this ambitious creation with us.

This dress was worn by our fit model Ateta. She was our muse for the whole collection and we want to thank her for inspiring us so deeply.

This dress really symbolizes our vision of refined beauty and soulful craft that is stitched within every layer at our maison Matières Fécales.

La Vie En Lola

Celebrated our Matières Fécales “Hannah” SS26 collection launch with a Dover Street Market Paris takeover. We held an intimate breakfast with homemade Hannah cookies. Our close friends and collaborators, Lola Dragoness Von Flame and Jonathan Massiala performed a live distorted rendition of La En Rose, a song we listened to on repeat while creating the collection. Thank you for everyone who came to support this collection inauguration.

The collection is now available in all stores featuring this season’s UNCENSORED exclusive limited edition capsule in collaboration with the Pierre Molinier Foundation. An initiative to highlight the radical queer art of one of our favourite visual artist.
