POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

One of my favourite things about early morning running in my hometown is noticing things I might otherwise miss. This weekend my run took me down some of the Sault’s main streets, and back alleys, and I came across all of these and more! Love rediscovering a place I’ve known forever. ❤️

Katrina Thibodeau, TORN - This artwork was skillfully crafted using the alla prima technique on a meticulously stretched linen canvas. Undoubtedly, it stands as Katrina’s most expansive oil painting to date. Within this masterpiece lies a profound exploration of the healing journey, specifically capturing the delicate stage where one grapples with overwhelming feelings of helplessness. The artist beautifully portrays the sensation of being trapped within one’s own emotions and anxieties, accompanied by fleeting out-of-body experiences and disassociation when attempting introspection. The result is a captivating representation of the inner turmoil that can leave one feeling torn apart.

Katrina Thibodeau, NUMB - This artwork was brought to life by employing the alla prima technique on a meticulously stretched linen canvas. Numb serves to illustrate the practice of shielding oneself from emotional reactions as the harshness of reality sinks in. It is a deliberate tactic aimed at safeguarding one’s mental and emotional well-being. While grappling with numbness can be challenging, it is only a temporary state and an essential phase in the journey of healing. Katrina’s latest creations, namely Restrained, Analyze, Uncover, and Numb, form part of an ongoing series.
