BIG NEWS. 🎉 I've been selected for the James Ray Residency Touring Project to create "Seeds of Mourning," premiering at the Seattle International Dance Festival, June 2026.
A dance about grief, hope, healing, and I need YOUR support to bring it to life.

CHANGE AGENT and put MY name on it. 🏆✨
I am so honored to be recognized by @nycmarymount & @mmcdancedept for the work I’ve been putting in centering equity, representation, and African-diasporic practices in spaces that weren’t always built for us. 💛🖤
As the only full-time faculty (until recently with now Melanie George as my Chair) specializing in Africanist Aesthetics and Black Dance Forms/Technique at MMC, I came in with a mission: to reform curriculum, bring in diverse voices through guest artists, and create space where our art forms are honored ON THEIR OWN TERMS. Not as an add-on. Not as an afterthought. As the foundation. 🌍🔥
And yes, I made MMC history with the first faculty hip-hop work and bringing Adesola and more after…👟💥
This award also belongs to every student who trusted me, every community member who poured into me, and my co-founders @daviannamoves & @dralexdance because @thicklikeme.dance is proof that body liberation and belonging ain’t just a vision, it’s a movement. 🌸
Inclusive excellence isn’t a talking point. It’s built through representation, accountability, and intentionally centering the people who’ve been pushed to the margins. Every. Single. Day.
I don’t take this lightly. I keep going for the culture. 🙏🏾
