"Jared Pace and Michael Schorr return once again as the heavy synth duo Delta IV with the sleek, mysterious, and infectious Diamond Bitfields. Since the band's debut '2' in 2021, Pace and Schorr have been honing their sonic world into a solidly dystopian futuristic sound. Albums like The Electron Coast and Radium Arc only solidified the duo's knack for combining the prog tendencies of the great Zombi, while bringing their own singular sound into sharp focus.

Diamond Bitfields leans heavily into vibes and mood; foundational grooves, infectious synth melodies, and an underlying feeling of unrequited, eerie solace about our future. AI and the datasphere plays an integral part in the mood here. From the album opener "Terminus Cipher" and it's almost trip hop feel, to the end times swing of "First Light" Delta IV are firing on all cylinders.

There's an underlying theme of a future gone awry as technology reaches sentience, and while we may not be overrun by AI yet, Diamond Bitfields imagines what that reality may sound like. "The Observers", "Perihelion Fever Dream", and stunning closer "Infinity Lattice" sound the alarm of a dystopian world where machine rules man. We’re honored to receive the @riaa_awards prestigious 2026 Cleary Award for Continued Excellence in Clear Vinyl. It’s amazing to be recognized for our hard work in designing and making records that not only sound great but are also clearly making a visual impact. Far too often, clear vinyl gets overshadowed by flashier variants, garish colorways, hand pours, and multi-color splatters. Sometimes elegance speaks for itself. We’ll treasure our 2026 Cleary Award and look forward to more clear vinyl in the future.

We love looking through the list to see the albums that came out this year and seeing friends on there, too.

It’s been an emotionally charged year for us, and our album feels so central to all of it. We had thought releasing these songs – which center on love, loss and healing – would be a release in a more literal sense. Instead, it has become a touchstone for reflection and deepened connection with family, friends and strangers, especially as we’ve experienced more unexpected losses this year.

It’s really been kind of a “grief conversation starter kit” in some ways, too. We’ve loved the open dialogues it has prompted with new friends and extended community as we’ve played these songs at shows near and throughout Europe. I can’t begin to convey how much it makes my heart swell every time someone I don’t know comes up and shares their own experiences after our shows.

Grief makes us yearn for real connection. We are so grateful for the portal this album has opened for us.

@kexp is an incredible station and community resource, not just for Seattle but also worldwide. As @djjohnrichards remarked at the Death & Music event this last weekend, music gives us words and ways to process our grief and loss. I know the healing process for Geoff and I has deepened in the wake of creating this album, and we take comfort in knowing that we’re helping others in some small way, too.
