Gallery ONKAF cordially invites you to the opening of a group exhibition, “The Presence in the Absence,” at One New Street Gallery, Herne Bay, United Kingdom, on 25th July 2026. This exhibition features works of six artists from India, bringing together the distinctive practices of Anil Thambai, Milan Sharma, Balagopalan Bethur, Suchita Manale, Mahendra Singh Baoni and Sujith Sudharkaran.
Across a range of mediums and styles, this exhibition reveals both the contrasts and connections of the presence in the absence where ideas evolve, identities are continually reimagined and a sense of self begins to take shape through what is missing, unseen or unspoken. It becomes a condition where absence does not signify emptiness but creates the possibility for reflection and development of new a perspective. This approach has enabled these artists to reinterpret societal constraints and cultural-political issues, allowing external influences to be examined and expressed on their own terms. Rather than simply accepting these influences, they have transformed absence into a form of embodiment, resistance, as well as belonging.

Exhibition Dates: 25th July - 30th July 2026
Time: 11:00 AM - 05:00 PM
Venue: One New Street Gallery 1 New St, Herne Bay CT6 5AH, United Kingdom

The Kochi Biennale Foundation is delighted to welcome Kader Attia, artist, curator, and professor at HfbK-Hamburg, as the curator of the 7th edition of Kochi-Muziris Biennale!

Attia was selected by a committee chaired by Jitish Kallat. Its members were Shilpa Gupta, Amrita Jhaveri, Pooja Sood, Tasneem Zakaria Mehta, Mariam Ram, and Rirkrit Tiravanija.

Born in Dugny in 1970, Attia is internationally recognised for a practice that engages deeply with questions of history, memory, repair, and the enduring legacies of colonialism. Working across installation, sculpture, film, and archival research, Attia has developed a body of work that brings together artistic, anthropological, and philosophical inquiry.

As the curator of the Seventh Kochi-Muziris Biennale, Attia will begin curatorial research towards developing the framework for the 2027–2028 edition, with Kochi as a vital point of departure within a wider field of artistic, historical, and contemporary inquiry.

Stay tuned for more updates as the journey towards Kochi-Muziris Biennale 2027–28 begins. @thekaderattia @kochibiennale @jitishkallat

Chausath Yogini Temple, Mitaoli , Gwalior
Perched on top of a hill in Mitaoli near Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh is the Chausath Yogini Temple, known for its unique circular layout.

Built in the 9th century CE during the reign of the Kachchhapaghata dynasty, this medieval temple was once dedicated to the 64 Yoginis, or female deities associated with the Shakta tradition.

Over centuries, the 64 intricately carved Yogini statues which once stood here, were replaced with Shivlingas.

Once a hideout of the dacoits, the Chausath Yogini Temple is now emerging as a popular tourist destination.
