What happens when we can no longer quite tell how an image was made?

For her ongoing series Tell Me What To See, Carola Lampe moves between street photography, staged scenes, digital manipulation, 3D environments, AI-generated imagery and video, questioning not only how machines see, but how technology might be changing the way we see ourselves.

Currently on view at @fotografiska.berlin as part of Emerging Berlin, we met Carola to talk about machine vision, her own conflicted relationship with AI, the influence of choreography on her work and what happens when photographed and artificially generated realities become harder to tell apart.

Tove Lo is back with ESTRUS: her sixth studio album, born somewhere between instinct, anxiety, desire and a body that seems to have plans of its own. LE MILE spoke with the Swedish pop icon about having no answers, writing what you need, black cats and keeping the fire burning.

There is something wonderfully inconvenient about wanting something your brain hasn’t agreed to yet. Tove Lo knows the feeling. On ESTRUS, her sixth studio album arriving September 18, the body is loud, the mind is still catching up, and nobody seems particularly interested in pretending otherwise. The title itself is wonderfully unsubtle. Estrus is the biological term for the period when a female mammal is in heat. An animal ready to mate. Instinct taking over. Tove Lo takes that very physical idea and lets everything else rush in with it: anxiety, vulnerability, sex, doubt, appetite, fear, and all those feelings that tend to arrive at exactly the wrong time.

“Schraube locker”: ENPAL turns pressure into permission.

Our new interview with @chotenius is live on VAKUUM.

ENPAL talks about the new track “Schraube locker,” its official music video, a month spent at Funkhaus making an EP, writing songs from keywords, and the moment when a room full of people starts singing along before they fully know what they are singing.

We also talk about the positive version of having a screw loose, the pressureless room a concert can create, and why today’s show at SOUND BIESENTHAL is going to be a concert, not a performance.

The official music video for “Schraube locker” is out now.

Today, Saturday, August 1, ENPAL performs live at 6 PM during the opening weekend of SOUND BIESENTHAL, this year’s edition of Art Biesenthal at Wehrmuehle. The exhibition runs from August 1 to 30, 2026, placing sound at the centre of questions around perception, space, memory and social relations.

For years, Gizem Emre has been a familiar face on screens, red carpets, and across Germany’s cultural landscape. Yet despite growing up in the public eye, the actress describes herself as much quieter than many people might expect.

“I think many people are surprised when they meet me in person because privately I’m much calmer and more reserved,” she tells LE MILE. Born and raised in Berlin, Emre grew up between cultures and learned early on how to navigate different expectations while staying connected to herself. Over the years, she has developed a stronger sense of confidence, letting go of constant comparison and placing greater value on how she feels rather than how she is perceived. “I think the older you get, the more important it becomes how you feel about yourself instead of constantly thinking about how you appear to others.” Below, the actress reflects on public perception, belonging, self-confidence, and finding moments of calm in an increasingly noisy world.

“Enter The Whole” is an invitation to step out of distraction and into a shared experience.”

What once started within Berlin’s queer underground has grown into one of the most internationally anticipated festivals on today’s circuit, bringing together collectives, artists, and audiences from cities spanning Mexico City, Tbilisi, Kampala, Almaty and far beyond.

For its 2026 edition, @whole.festival turns its focus toward presence, participation, accessibility, and collective authorship, rethinking what a festival space can look and feel like today.

“Coolness was never supposed to feel clean.”

Long before musicians became content machines and backstage culture turned into curated Instagram dumps, Anton Corbijn was building the visual mythology of rock ’n’ roll through grain, shadow, sweat, cigarettes, cheap hotel rooms, and beautiful emotional collapse.

Joy Division. Patti Smith. Nick Cave. Depeche Mode. Nina Hagen. Kurt Cobain. U2.

Images that never tried to make artists look perfect: only painfully real.

Now on view at @fotografiska.berlin , @antoncorbijn4real revisits over five decades of post-punk melancholy, alternative culture, and the dirty beauty of music photography.
