POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

We have a few women on a mission this November. Come on out to see Natalie Gilda and Maria Rubio from HOT PEOPLE READ POETRY do their thing as they bring the 🔥 to the stage and SPECIAL GUEST Delilah Saul will be bringing her own spark to the mix

Natalie Gilda believes SWers are inherent storytellers, which is what makes them such amazing writers. She is the creator and host of Hot People Read Poetry, a SWer founded and focused open mic experience and poetry show in NYC. She also cohosts an interview series, Pink Dancing Poets.

Maria Rubio (she/they) is a born and raised New Yorker with roots in the Philippines. Her writing explores everything that she comes in contact with as a Brown queer woman who is building community within the belly of capitalism.

Delilah Saul is a SWer, documentarian, and founder of @outlawmediacompany. Her recent film, “Beloved”, explores the impact of stigma on the love lives of SWers. She’s currently directing and producing a documentary about media bias against SWers. She hosts SW + LOVE, a podcast about navigating personal relationships as a SWer.

What a full-circle moment.

First and foremost, I want to wholeheartedly thank the Poet Laureate of Jersey City @melidarodaspoet and the rest of the @jcpofest committee for allowing me the opportunity to be on such a noteworthy and esteemed platform that celebrates artistry and amplifies voices. What a blessing!

None of this would be possible without my sister @cyngracesylvie , who has poured into me since day one, @sjbythegram , and the entire @jcwriters family. Thank you for embracing me and allowing me to represent this stellar group of creatives.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the individual who served as the catalyst for building the bridge that reconnected me with home: @poetseanbattle of @evoluculture Thank you, my brother!

What a great time at @boxyardrtp for the @thirdanglepoets Playground Harvest Picnic with @youthrocknc @kitt_ramble_music and too many other poets and singers to name.

People leaning on the table where my phone was and clapping made it shake — let’s hear it for analog video effects!

Two days. Dozens of voices. One unforgettable weekend at Boxyard RTP.

The Triangle Poetry Festival brought together poets, performers and community members for a chance to share their voice, hone their craft and find common ground through verse. From Friday’s open mic at LOJO to Saturday’s closing with 99 poets reading together at once, each moment reminded us why gathering around art matters.

Workshops, tea ceremonies, cypher dancing, youth showcases — the weekend had something for everyone and the energy in the crowd showed it.

Big thanks to @thirdanglepoets for making this happen, and to every artist and attendee who brought their full selves to Boxyard.

Hello, I am PLEASURE. I mean, it’s a pleasure to be here with you. 🥵

I mean, I’m grateful I’m still here with you.

I mean, I’m still here and I’m so full of joy and pleasure and light and free and in the company of so many with generous hearts full and filling.

I mean sharing all of life with you, chaos and ugliness and bliss and rupture and love, helps me remember that pleasure matters, too.

🎙️🐁What I really mean is that I am proud of you. You the @thirdanglepoets who invested weekends and weeknights and browsweat and strained courage to pave new pathways in the souls.

🤳I’m proud of you who couldn’t join us but watched from afar and took a deep breath to invite life’s other moments with greater warmth.

🛌I’m proud of you who fought momentously and alone with all the voices shouting of lack and doubt and despair and hunger and shame and self-rejection, still here, here you are.

🌅I’m proud of you who’s proud of you for stepping back into the light to turn the bulb brighter with belief in the togetherness and sharing and vulnerability that sparks all power to move the body into love anew.

— I’m proud of me too, sleepless and enduring and trying hard to love with my best and learn with my worst.

🌎🌍🌏🌞I’m gawking so smiley and enamored to have joined each of you to make Triangle Poetry Festival a reality. So much talent and daring artistry and hope. So much love out in the open. Don’t fear the end of the world.

The new world is born. With it, the new you. We had a lot to complain about in the old world, didn’t we? I can’t wait to meet you again — perhaps we pretend it’s for the first time.

Hello, I am pleasure. ❤️‍🔥

Not many poet-poets showed up for this. But you did - the parent with screaming kids, the burned out tech worker, the weekend foodie, the multi-dog walker, the people who prob. hate poetry. I'd like to think you were the audience we were meant to reach.

I had no idea if this experiment, like so many at Triangle Poetry Festival, was going to work. Beyond in-house backup from @thirdanglepoets , getting random non-poets to read poems on the spot while @raleighrockers improvised movement on the spot was filled with unknowns.

Stepping into the unknown is how magic happens. I still have no idea how this worked. Maybe that's what movement is all about: just going 🌊

It’s hard to capture the full weight of what this past weekend’s inaugural Triangle Poetry Festival meant to me in just one post, so I won’t. I’ll make two… LOL.

This one is for the luminous presence and undeniable talent of our youth poets from the @chspoeticjusticeleague . It was an honor to lend ears and hearts to their expression and to witness their gifts up close and in real time.

@thirdanglepoets would like to thank Ms. Raquel Harris of Carrboro High School for helping bring the Inkling Diem showcase to life.

Special shout out and thanks to @lizawolfffrancis , former Poet Laureate of Carrboro, as well for her efforts!

The future is in good hands, and if this weekend was any indication, it is already speaking loudly.
