This months edition of INSIDE OUT features a DJ who I’ve spun with many times, but Saturday August 29th will be the first time we connect at 915 Dupont and it’s gonna be a great one. Andycapp brings an unparalleled knowledge of soulful dance music across all eras and knows just how to weave it all together. As always, arrive early for maximum enjoyment and be ready to dance.

I continue to despise the North American three-act-structure of writing essays: introduction; prove your point with endless citations; then come to a conclusion riddled with solutions.” — AndyCapp (2020)

Writing under his “AndyCapp” moniker, Hicks delivers a cynical, sharp critique against cultural academic clichés and modern musical crimes.

TIME IS A FLAT PANCAKE.

Last night: Souls of Mischief rocked Rum Runners.

This morning: they rolled into the Bird for brunch.

Then we wandered into the washroom and found an old flyer wheat-pasted to the wall from 1997, when they played Call the Office.

Almost 30 years later… same city. Different breakfast.

History tastes better with homies. ❤️

The Bird packed a tiki bar in its lunchbox and dropped it off at the Diver.

David’s behind the sticks with his signature cocktail menu:
🍓 Gin Berry Smash
🌴 Bahama Mama
🍌 David Dew (or David Don’t… your call)
🥃 Amaretto Sour

Plus we’ve still got the Sunfest cans flowing from Anderson Craft Ales and London Brewing Co-op.

Doors are open. Party starts at 9.

If Tom Selleck walks in, somebody hide the Chambord.

Sunfest fills the park.

Tonight, we fill the dance floor.

We still believe dance floors are one of the last places strangers become family.

No algorithms.
No politics.
No pretending.

Just rhythm, movement, sweat, smiles, and records.

Whether you spent all day at Sunfest or you’re just looking for your people after dark, everyone’s welcome.

Tobias + Andycapp take the controls.
You bring the energy.

No cover.
Just love. 🌞❤️

When #sunfestldn comes, my @thirdatlantic and I get into party mode. Due to great success and public demand, we are throwing an afterparty again at @holydiverldn on Sat, July 11. When the sun finally sets and the music stops at Victoria Park, we will bring you the real Planet Rock, #amapiano to #brazilika, from the motherland to Turtle Island. All welcome, if you are a lover or dancer! #lovedance #housenation

Some nights you make plans.

Some nights you end up here.

Cold drinks. Loud tunes. Good food. Familiar faces. New bad ideas.

Happy hour 4–8.
The rest is up to you.
