✈️ Plane Stitching: Grout Lines, Skyline Views & a Little Jersey Detour! It may not look like much progress, but LOOK CLOSELY at those horizontal lines, folks. 👀 They weren’t there the other day! And let me tell you, grout lines are NOT for the weak-minded or the easily distracted ADHD stitcher! One wandering thought and suddenly your brickwork needs a structural engineer.

And yes, that IS the Manhattan skyline out the window! I was this close to another visit to @pennylinndesigns or @ritasneedlepoint . Unfortunately, close enough to see Manhattan is NOT close enough to go needlepoint shopping in Manhattan. The struggle is real.

But first, the real reason for my Jersey adventure! I was at the SCI @seamenschurch International Seafarers’ Center in Port Newark for a board meeting, and y’all, just LOOK at that wall of color! 🌈 The venerable JoAnn Bartosik is gearing up for the annual Christmas at Sea campaign, and all that beautiful handwork made my crocheter’s heart just a little wistful.

There was a time when a crochet hook had my full attention. But these days? Needlepoint has moved in, unpacked its bags, and apparently signed a long-term lease. Sorry, crochet. It’s not you. It’s me.

Now, when in Jersey, what’s a girl to do?Why, pay a visit to the lovely ladies at Morgan Julia Designs, OF COURSE! 💁‍♀️ Such a cute shop, and naturally, a few things may have followed me out the door. But y’all will have to wait for a fresh State of the Stitch or Stitch Mail Monday to see what made the trip home.

And speaking of things making the trip home, I’m bringing back a little MJD swag for my favorite Howdy Honey Needlepoint shop girl! 💕 You know who you are! 😉 Because as much as I love visiting other LNSs, there’s NO PLACE LIKE HOME! 🏡 And let me tell you, every LNS I visit seems to know @howdyhoneyneedlepoint , and they ALL say they can’t wait to visit! Our favorite Texas needlepoint shop is making quite the impression, y’all! 🤠

For now, it’s back to my Chicago bricks. One grout line at a time, assuming my attention span cooperates.

A little plane stitching today! ✈️🪡 Because apparently I can’t just sit on a plane and mind my own business. There are stitches to be stitched, folks!

My Chicago “Second City” canvas from Third Coast Stitches is getting some love, complete with my Chicago Theatre sign needle minder from Kit & Caboodle. Because if you’re going to stitch Chicago, you might as well bring a little marquee magic along for the ride! 🎭✨

And since my travels have me in Jersey, I’m hoping to sneak in a visit to Morgan Julia Designs @morganjuliadesigns. You know, just to say hello. Maybe browse a little. We all know how that goes. 👀😂

A little stitching, a little traveling, and perhaps a needlepoint detour. Sounds like a perfectly reasonable itinerary to me!

I 🩷 a WIP and a lowercase f finish - but I fear it’s time to try my hand at capital F Finishing. Excited, nervous, scared 😵‍💫 Share all your self finishing tips with me!
