Liechtenstein Castle in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, also known as the "Fairytale Castle of Württemberg," is an imposing structure perched on a hill 817 meters high. The building, built in the neo-Gothic style, features a unique architectural style and interior design that immerses visitors in a romantic atmosphere.
The castle was built from 1840 to 1842 on the foundations of a castle dating back to 1390.

Lichtenstein Castle is located on a steep slope (Albtrauf) in the Swabian Alb mountain range, in the Honau district of Liechtenstein, Baden-Württemberg.

Approximately 500 meters southeast of the castle, the remains of the medieval Alt Liechtenstein may be located.

In the 19th century, the Romantic movement sparked a great interest in chivalry, and Wilhelm Hauff mentions the castle in his novel "Lichtenstein," which enjoyed incredible success and is today considered the author's greatest literary achievement (alongside his fairy tales).

Count Friedrich Wilhelm Ferdinand Alexander of Württemberg and Duke of Urach, a member of the Württemberg dynasty, was interested in medieval history and historical architectural and artistic monuments. Enchanted by Hauff's novel, he purchased the estate from his cousin, William I, King of Württemberg, to build a "fairytale castle."
