One night. One legend. Welcome to VIY

This Halloween, we’re doing things a little differently.

On October 31, Another Collective × Toloka are turning a warehouse in Bellevue into something you wouldn’t expect — an abandoned church inspired by VIY, Gogol’s legendary horror story rooted in Ukrainian folklore.

Think candlelight, eerie shadows, ancient legends, and a space where the line between reality and the supernatural starts to disappear! 🕯️

But this isn’t just about the atmosphere.

Music is at the heart of everything we do.

Four DJs. Four unique sets. A night moving through House, Tech House, Indie Dance, and Melodic House & Techno.

Come as you are, or whoever you want to be. Witches, ghosts, vampires, dark angels, folklore creatures — or something entirely your own. No strict dress code. Just bring your energy.

We’re creating more than a Halloween party. We’re creating an experience to share.

🌍 Why do ravers feel so connected to nature?

Ever wondered why people travel thousands of miles to dance in deserts, jungles, and by the ocean?

Turns out, science has some fascinating explanations. 🧠

🌿 Nature and music can create a similar feeling of connection to something bigger than ourselves.

🎶 Dancing together increases social bonding. Oxford researchers found that moving in sync can actually bring people closer.

✨ AWE is that overwhelming feeling you get when witnessing something extraordinary, like a breathtaking sunset or dancing under the stars.

🌊 Nature is also associated with better mental well-being, while unforgettable experiences can create strong emotional attachments to certain places.

Maybe that’s why Ibiza, Tulum, and Burning Man feel so special.

Maybe we’re not just chasing music. We’re chasing connection. 🤍

💬 Have you ever felt this way?

📚 Based on research from the University at Buffalo, University of Oxford, and Scientific Reports.

Ever noticed how some of the most unforgettable music experiences happen in the middle of nowhere?

Ibiza, Tulum, Bali, Burning Man. People travel thousands of miles just to dance in deserts, jungles, mountains, and by the ocean.

But what if it’s not just about the music?

🧠 Science has some fascinating explanations.

In October 2026, researchers at the University at Buffalo explored a psychological phenomenon called collective effervescence, a powerful feeling of being connected to something bigger than yourself.

Interestingly, nature can create similar feelings to those we experience at concerts and festivals.

And that’s just the beginning.

✨ THE SCIENCE BEHIND THE FEELING

🌿 AWE: Research involving 2,078 participants found that experiencing something extraordinary, like a breathtaking sunset or endless desert, can reduce self-focus and increase feelings of connection.

🎶 MUSIC & MOVEMENT: Oxford researchers found that synchronized dancing increases social bonding and pain tolerance. Moving to the same rhythm really can bring people closer.

🌊 NATURE & WELL-BEING: A study of 19,806 people found that spending at least 120 minutes a week in nature was associated with better self-reported health and psychological well-being.

🌎 PLACE ATTACHMENT: Research on music festivals suggests that people develop emotional connections not only to the music but also to the places where they experience it.

And here’s what I find most interesting.

Science has studied these experiences separately, but we’re only beginning to understand what happens when we combine music, movement, community, and nature.

Maybe that’s why a sunset set feels different.

Why dancing in the desert feels almost spiritual.

Why we remember not only the DJ but also the sky, the air, the people, and exactly how we felt in that moment.

Maybe we’re not just chasing parties. We’re chasing connection. 🤍

And personally, I think that’s what makes electronic music culture so special.

💬 Have you ever experienced that feeling? Where was it?

📚 Research sources: University at Buffalo (2026), University of Oxford (2016), Piff et al. (2015), Scientific Reports (2019), Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Insights (2026).

Based on scientific research and my personal perspective on electronic music culture.

Are we witnessing the end of an era? 👀

Raves are getting shorter, daytime parties are taking over, and the way we experience nightlife is changing.

Less alcohol, more wellness, higher ticket prices, and a whole new generation of partygoers.

But does this mean rave culture is dying, or are we just entering a new era of electronic music? 🪩

As a DJ, I’m curious what you think.

Would you rather rave until sunrise or dance all day and be home by 10 PM? 👇🏻
