At the time it felt like this weekend took years off my life but I think it actually added several 🙌🏼 I officially turned 40 & celebrated in the most perfect way, out on a school night, dancing to @hugelthug with the girls, & the guys 😉, and truly cherishing every second!

There’s been a lot of reflecting and celebrating this milestone this last year, making big life decisions, wondering if they will unfold in a way that brings opportunity. Still always in search of newness, growth, and perspective as we navigate this life. Looking forward to this next lap around the sun. ☀️

“I can’t believe this is happening.”

Madden’s mom Val said it over and over during their session.

Not when he put on the cap and gown.

Not when we took the photos.

When she was watching him.

Watching him laugh. Watching him play with the puppy. Watching her family together and realizing that the next chapter is no longer “someday.”

It’s here.

I think that’s why I love these Cap + Gown Family sessions so much.

They look like graduation photos on the surface, but they’re really about something else. They’re about pressing pause long enough to remember what it took to get here.

Congratulations, Madden. Arizona State is getting a good one.

MADDEN - Eastside Catholic - 2026

In my experience, the real story is better.

This is the new issue of @425magazine Magazine featuring Madden from Eastside Catholic High School, and one of the things I’m most proud of is that every feature you see from Studio B uses real clients, real seniors, real families, and real business owners. Not hired faces. Not stock personalities. The actual people walking through these seasons of life right now.

Making The Magic: This shoot was classic Studio B senior energy too. Madden’s mom Val was there laughing half the time, Makayla was leading the shoot, and somewhere between football shots and joking around, we created images that genuinely feel like him. That balance matters, especially for senior boys. A lot of guys walk into senior pictures expecting absolute torture. Then 20 minutes later they’re relaxed, talking trash, laughing, and realizing this is actually pretty fun. (That’s usually when the best images happen.)

As we head into spring and summer senior and grad sessions, I’m reminded how much I love this season for families. The confidence. The personality. The excitement. The “how are they graduating already?” feeling parents carry into the shoot.

It never gets old.

My 30th year. So much to learn and wisdom to gain. What a time- I wouldn’t go back and change a thing (well.. maybe a little less drinking!)
