Twenty performances in July despite being out of town for a week! District Fringe was jam packed full of amazing shows as well as the STCA Summer Reps and a few other shows here and there!!

1) District Fringe Opening Night performance of Who Did It? An Improv Murder Mystery! Yes, we brought the critical Jell-o clue 🕵️ that was featured in the BroadwayWorld Review! 🤣

2) First production of Tall Tale of a Wolfman by at District Fringe

3) Part party, part scavenger hunt, part performance; Ghosts were hunted at Rorschach’s Ghost Party with looping ghost performances found throughout downtown (and the defunct Taco Bamba)

4) Staged reading of One and The Same, an alternate timeline version of Twelfth Night!

5) Outdoor first reading of The Hound of the Baskervilles by Glass Cannon at Crispus Attucks Park!

6) Back at Fringe, the most crazy-fun puppet show ever B*tch Eat Dog! I think it’s heading to Edinburgh Fringe next!

7) My Best of Fringe, The Moon Girls’ Please Clap! I was dying laughing from the series of increasingly elaborate mini sketches (Although I might be biased since they gave me VIP treatment 🤣)

8 & 9) Two shows, one cast: Back to Back Opening Nights of the Shakespeare Theatre Academy Class of 2026 Twelfth Night AND Macbeth!! So incredible seeing huge casts of incredibly talented actors switch from Comedy to Tragedy over two nights!

10) The Play that Goes Wrong at Keegan Theatre was incredible and well-organized chaos!! The set design was particularly incredible!

11) Fringe Staged Workshop of The River plus a talkback after! Really cool seeing this new work being developed about a group of teens and how one summer’s tragedy changed their lives.

12) Made back to Round House despite the Red Line construction to see Happenstance Theater’s ADRIFT; definitely the most unique show of the month!!

13) Back to Fringe, and the solo performance of How to Die in Japan!

14) On the most perfect night for outdoor theatre, I got to see Macbeth get delightfully ruined by Shakespeare in the Pub, the comparison all the more vivid having just seen the STCA Macbeth earlier in the month!

15) First time seeing a Dominion Stage production out In Shrlington with

Next up in our 2026 lineup! This is a Play about God by Aimee Dastin, Pen and Pebble Productions

Set entirely within the sterile, claustrophobic locker room of an elite summer volleyball intensive, This is a Play About God follows five athletes as they prepare for a high-stakes scrimmage under the watchful eye of a rumored Nebraska scout. The team is led by Mackenzie, a captain obsessed with “Marketability Math,” a rigid set of rules governing everything from hair ribbon height and Gatorade color to social media purity.

The arrival of Kayla, a skeptical sophomore, acts as a catalyst that begins to crack the team's polished facade. As the girls navigate brutal physical rituals, the truth behind the exodus of a former teammate, Jordan, begins to surface. What was presented as a case of “toxic behavior” is revealed to be a calculated betrayal orchestrated by Mackenzie to protect her All-American image. When Jordan returns to confront the group, the narrative collapses, leaving Mackenzie to choose between her humanity and the hollow, perfect future she has engineered for herself.
