My friend AHMED SHIHAB-ELDIN - has been imprisoned for 6 weeks in Kuwait for doing no more than sharing an image of a US F-15 fighter jet being shot down in the Iran war. That’s right, for sharing information that helps the world in its understanding of reality in the effort to create peace. Ahmed is a phenomenal journalist and human who’s worked for the New York Times, Vice/HBO, Al Jazeera, produced shows on PBS, and more. He is a genuine champion of people who are trying to make a better world, and one of the most sincere, handsome, charming and well spoken. Of late, he has also been acting in films. He’s someone I’ve known at the frontlines of the struggles for universal human rights and journalism since well before the Arab Spring. When he first came onto the scene out Columbia Journalism, he was an obvious bolt of energy.I had already been blacklisted for my songs and writings of love connecting war, imperialism, police brutality, climate change. With a borderless background like my own, Ahmed implicitly understood because he had lived those connections, two decades before 2023 when today’s barrage of genocide, unjust war, climate change, inequality and migration crises have awakened a flood-tide global public. Thanks to everyone who came to “Songs of Global Love and (R)evolution at @pac_nyc on Saturday night. What an amazing audience and energy! I had a blast, and sang songs from across my career that nvoked love on #valentine Day but also foretold not only where we are today as a human race on our planet, but how we build the world we need to see. The last time I brought this many instruments on stage with me in one show, I can’t remember (guitar, banjo, violin, ukulele, piano, 12-string) I love this space, it is a spectacular performing arts center, the simultaneous formal and casual public atmosphere at this stage permits me to go from a Lincoln Center worthy arrangement of Schuberllieder to a rawkus favela street protest anthem, from luscious songs of intimate love to unabashed howls for Global freedom and unity. All of this is enabled by a wonderful staff who made me feel at home and the one and only. @annieomusiclive and the growing team at @thisisborderless I hope I will be back soon. With love and humble gratitude., aimed at the world we must build!

After the elections, and on the heels of youth-led movements for global unity, equality and sustainability redefining governments across the world – I have some big news and will need you to stay tuned as we’ll need everyone’s help! This is our time to organize and come together across the planet to create the world we have always dreamed of, one in which we live as one united humanity across borders. Today is an amazing day because it is proof that things that I and others were blacklisted and silenced for just 20 years ago are now mainstream, accepted, and on the tips of everyone’s tongues. We have a lot of work to do, but we have come so far! In that spirit, we are launching the new borderless platform, a post-social media tool for us to come together globally, as well as the borderless conversation series. Lastly. I am working on my first real tour since I was canceled for my songs of love and unity for late winter-spring 2026, so please dm me to come to your community center, school, space.
