POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Sharing the stage with my best friend is one of my favourite things. ❤️ Chelsea will sing and perform pretty much anything I ask her to without a second thought—and somehow throws in impromptu singing lessons for me along the way. 😂🎶

Last night’s rehearsal included some beautiful singing, some very questionable moments, and a lot of laughing. Usually at ourselves.

Chel, thank you for always saying yes. I love you. ❤️

Come see us attempt to keep it together at Get Back Up Again!

2019. ❤️ Lauren & Chelsea & I singing True Colours. Accompanied by Nick- of course ❤️

These two. ❤️

Lauren and Chelsea are two of my very best friends, and when I talk about the village that surrounds me, these are two of the people I’m talking about.

They’ve known me through different seasons of my life, stood beside me through some of the best ones and definitely through the hardest ones, and reminded me over and over again that sometimes getting back up has a lot to do with who is standing there beside you.

Looking back at this little video from 2019 feels especially meaningful now. ❤️

And that’s a huge part of what Get Back Up Again is about — not just starting over, but celebrating the people who love us, hold us up, make us laugh, and remind us who we are along the way.

I can’t wait to make music with some of my favourite people again. 🎤❤️

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us this week for our Mississauga Music Week edition of the West Vocal Jam at the Crooked Cue! The event featured the wonderful Chelsea Johnson, Founder of the Reimagined Roots Collective with an opening performance by Meep Moop. Thank you to Mississauga Music for sponsoring these featured performances. It was such a joy to share an evening of music with 19 talented vocalists.

A very special thank you to Chelsea for sharing her gorgeous voice, exciting musical interpretations, and inspiring stories with her Musical Director Nicholas Mustapha on keys.

West Vocal Jam wouldn’t be possible without our outstanding instrumentalists, who create the perfect foundation for our singers to shine. Thank you to Ross MacIntyre (raised in ‘Sauga) who joined us on bass with Nick on keys. Your exceptional musicianship and sight reading shone throughout the evening.

A huge round of applause to our amazing singers! Thank you to Liane Fainsinger, Cat Bernardi, Carole Marcotte, Mimmie Adams, Paul Saghbini, Sadie Culliford, Jack Ridout, Tracy Cui, Elizabeth Bettencourt, Larry Galloway, Ivetta Melkumyan, Denise Leslie, Joann Rossiter, Rocco Continenza, Dyanne Dumas and Veer Suchak for performing so beautifully for us. You shared your talents so generously. West Vocal Jam exists because of artists like you, and we’re grateful that you continue to bring your voices and hearts to our community.

We’re also deeply grateful for the ongoing support of our audience and community supporters: the Mississauga Arts Council, the Port Credit Community Foundation, the City of Mississauga (Live Music Grant), and The Crooked Cue Port Credit. Your generosity helps make evenings like this possible and provides a wonderful space where our community can gather, connect, and create.

Before we officially close the curtain on an incredible summer, we need to give a HUGE thank you to the amazing teachers, managers and assistants who made every bit of it possible.

Behind every song learned, dance rehearsed, costume fixed, nervous child encouraged, silly moment, big laugh and final performance was a team of people giving their energy, creativity and heart to our students. 🥹

You created spaces where kids could be themselves, try something new, make friends, build confidence and have an unforgettable summer.

We are so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you. Thank you for showing up, jumping in, embracing the chaos and making the magic happen. ✨

Summer Camp 2026… you were one for the books. 🧡

📣 Great news! Chelsea Johnson of the Reimagined Roots Collective will be our featured vocalist for the next edition of West Vocal Jam happening on Wednesday, September 9 at The Crooked Cue Mississauga. Join us as we celebrate Mississauga Music Week! Everyone is welcome to sing or enjoy the show. Singers – please rsvp by emailing me at hcb@rogers.com while spots last. All levels welcome.

Reimagined Roots Collective is a Mississauga-based music project that transforms familiar songs into bold, unexpected experiences. Rather than simply covering well-known music, the collective rebuilds songs through fresh genres, creative arrangements, and live collaborative performance. Created and led by vocalist, performer, arts educator, and executive producer Chelsea Johnson, Reimagined Roots Collective brings together accomplished musicians and vocalists from across the GTA. Chelsea developed the project’s artistic vision and works closely with Musical Director, arranger, and collaborator Nick Mustapha to bring each reinvention to life. Every performance is rooted in authentic, in-the-room musicianship—no backing tracks, no shortcuts— allowing space for spontaneity, connection, and real musical moments.

If anyone would like to sing at West Vocal Jam, please drop me a line at hcb@rogers.com to register. Please note performing spots are limited. Singers are asked to bring 2 copies of your charts (no sheet music or multiple pages). We will have a provided professional pianist and bass player.

Chelsea Johnson’s performance is proudly sponsored by Mississauga Music. Cheers and more to come! #community #mississauga #music #wellbeing

What an unforgettable night at our July 24th showcase!

We built this show with a very specific vision, and the artists delivered beyond expectations:

Round 1: Highlighting the next generation—brilliant, young emerging female songwriters proving that the art of songwriting is alive, thriving, and kicking right here in Mississauga. @kaliasmusic @nataliegmusic @daphnelanemusic

Round 2: Shifting gears into raw energy with an incredible collective bringing that pure, live-off-the-floor, organic sound. Performing songs we know and love, but arranged in a way we've never heard before. Great fun and great energy! @thisischelseajohnson @nickonthekeys @its_sashaz @reimaginedrootscollective

The Finale: A masterclass in storytelling and songwriting. They truly understood the assignment—crafting a set around deeply authentic, vulnerable, and sometimes uncomfortable truths, but always tying every story together with a bow of hope. @callmekirstyn @cheecheelia

From raw emerging talent to masterclass execution, this night was a testament to one simple truth: Live music matters.
