Having an adventurous spirit isn’t just about the places we visit — it’s about how we choose to travel, the experiences we say yes to, and the foods we’re brave enough to try.

A quick stopover in Amsterdam for the day thanks to my Eurail pass , I went all in and tasted pickled herring for the first time. Six-month fermented fish is not something I’d normally reach for, but when you’re travelling through the Netherlands, it feels like a rite of passage. And honestly? What an experience. There’s something powerful about embracing local cuisine — it’s a window into culture, history, and the stories people carry.

Exploring Amsterdam with Rene from @slowfoodamsterdam opened up a whole new way of seeing the city. When you walk slowly, listen deeply, and let locals guide you, you start to understand a place from the inside out.

Here’s to travelling with curiosity, eating with courage, and choosing the kind of adventures that change us — even if it’s one bite of fermented fish at a time. 🐟

BREAD LOVE. 🍞

I met a wonderful baker in Basel Switzerland 🇨🇭 — Christian from @bread.love_basel — whose passion for bread runs deeper than flour and water. He’s spent years trying to recreate the flavours of his childhood, baking high-quality sourdough with locally sourced ancient grains.

Listening to him speak about bread felt like listening to someone talk about home, memory, and identity all at once.

We ended up spending almost an entire day together, sharing stories and knowledge about food, our cultures, and our communities.

Worlds apart in distance, yet sitting across from each other we realised how similar we are. Food became our common language — the way we express love, care, and connection to the people we belong to.

What moved me most is that Christian is one of many people I’ve met on this journey who were generous enough to share their time, their stories, and their craft — all because I stayed curious and simply started a conversation.

Stepping off the beaten track, leaning into the unexpected, and being open to moments outside my comfort zone… that’s where the magic happened.

And this connection — born from bread, storytelling, and a shared reverence for tradition — is one I’ll carry with me for a lifetime.

Curiosity & Connection — Lyon to Amsterdam 🚂

Traveling on trains through Europe with @eurail has reminded me of something simple but powerful: when we slow down, the world opens up.

Moving from Lyon to Mulhouse to Basel to Freiburg, Utrecht and finally Amsterdam, I found myself guided by curiosity — tasting, listening, wandering — letting each place reveal itself beyond the postcard moments.

Along the way, I met strangers who felt like kin.

We shared stories over plates of handmade Varenyky (Ukranian dumplings), mouthfuls of sourdough bread made of ancient grain still warm from the wood fired oven, devoured handmade local cheeses and biscuits made from a 300 year old recipe , we sipped street-side wine and perry , and strolled through organic food markets humming with life.

It struck me how, despite the distance between our lives, we’re all searching for the same thing: connection and community.

And woven through it all was Slow Food — meals rooted in place, grown with care, prepared with intention. Food that asks you to pause. Food that makes you feel something.

This journey has been a reminder that curiosity is a compass… and connection is the destination.

Here’s to the unexpected moments, the people who cross our paths at just the right time, and the joy of taking the long way.
