Football and Reflections. ⚽🪞

Been looked at like a proper weirdo at times when I've been spotted pointing the camera at a puddle! But it can create cool photo ops. Haven't been doing it for that long but now will always look out for an opportunity to take a decent football reflection shot.

It's one way to make a positive out of a rainy day I suppose!

Rangers back in action today after what felt like the longest international break ever! At home to Kilmarnock.

Got me thinking back to my one and only Rangers-Killie game that I've been to. Only the second time I'd ever been to Ibrox..back in March 2023. A comfortable 3-1 win.

I don't need much encouragement to reminisce about all the times I've been to Ibrox. I do it regularly anyway. Unsure of when my next game will be at present so will have to support from afar today at least.

Would take that all day long today to hit top of the league and put pressure on the other lot.

Rangers v Celtic. A first experience.

As we build up to the final Old Firm of the season tomorrow lunchtime, I thought I'd take a look back at the first Old Firm of the season as it was the first one I'd ever attended. For anyone else who was in the stadium for this iconic fixture for the first time I'm sure the occasion and the buzz of anticipation leading up to the game will last long in the memory.

For just about anyone else who watched either inside Ibrox or on TV, highlights and memories of this game will be nigh on impossible to come by.

It was dreadful and 0-0!

The day itself...a bit strange. Midday Sunday games take something away from the experience for sure. I set off from Manchester at 6 to be in the area for 9, and Govan was a ghost town. The only noteworthy thing about the morning was the number of police in the area. They've obviously done this drill before (to varying degrees of effect as we'd see later in the season). Other than that it felt very much like a normal match day, quite subdued outside as fans slowly filtered into the area as the morning went by.

Inside the stadium, away fans were in 2 hours prior to kick off so as I made my way to my seat, that end was full while the rest of Ibrox took a while to fill up the atmosphere simmered gently. Fast forward to 15 minutes before kick off, the crap chart music stops, the players finish their warm ups and the Rangers anthems kick in as kick off draws closer. This is the best part of the day in truth. This is where the goosebumps begin and the nerves ramp up. The players come out to a rapturous reception and the Copland adorns yet another tifo that makes Ibrox such a spectacle in big games.

Then the game begins and the occasion slowly dissipates into what is known as one of the worst, most uneventful Old Firms in living memory. A game that summed up where both sides were at that stage of the season.
